Ehh that is a little weird that he has a signed book on display with a price. I've never seen that at any physicians office before. The sign that says you can expect to wait up to three hours beyond your appointment time would have me looking for a different provider. That shows a lack of scheduling and a lack of respect for the patients time.I’ve been dealing with an ongoing health issue for over a month now, trying to get answers and seeing a myriad of specialist. My latest experience was with a rheumatologist office. I really liked the doctor in the hospital but upon my follow up in the office his senior partner had two of his published books on display in a case in the waiting room for $25 a pop and a sign saying you could get the books autographed by the doctor upon request.
It just left a really bad impression on me. Also he had pictures with various politicians that were autographed and on display as well. I don’t care the political affiliation of the doctor I really don’t but it just seemed tacky. “Hey look at me and who I know.” The final strike was a sign saying you can expect to wait up to 3 hours beyond your appointment time due to the complex nature of treatments etc…is this weird and off putting or am i just irritable?
Needless to say I sought a second opinion.
I very nearly got locked in a Physical Therapist office. I was in a room, on ice. The therapist in charge had some sort of personal emergency, so they were closing early. No fun.I just had them forget me in a room experience. I posted it somewhere here. I was angry but didn’t yell. Amazing restraint. They should have given me a chocolate donut.

I had a similar experience with an orthopedic doctor. I’d done a yearlong tour in Iraq with a knee injury. I was pcs’d to Alabama on my return and needed it fixed. While I was seeing the Army docs to get the ok to see a specialist, I ran into a Major who said there was that famous ortho surgeon who did all the pro athletes up the road and why didn’t I go see him. I did - big mistake.I’ve been dealing with an ongoing health issue for over a month now, trying to get answers and seeing a myriad of specialist. He had all that going on because he's a very important and influential man. You didn't know that about him prior to your visit, so his branding had to inform you. How awesome would it have been for your insurance to shovel loads of cash into his practice?I’ve been dealing with an ongoing health issue for over a month now, trying to get answers and seeing a myriad of specialist. Always my goal.It may help shorten your wait time if you book a time early in the morning, before problems in the office accumulate.

Sorry you ended up going with a generic doctor.
this actually came in to play once recently. They wanted to do 4 pediatric crowns for my son who I think was about 8. My buddy said why? They're baby teeth. My wife and son were already in the office, but, me being diligent, I called the insurance co. to make sure they had done a prior auth. They hadn't. So, the insurance called the office and said they are the insurance and they have the patient's father on the line.thats really fitting because the 24 hour cancellation signs were hanging everywhere too.
