Hey guys,
In my fleet of vehicles I have an '06 Eclipse GT 6spd that I drive in the summer, and store for the winter. Each end of driving season I clean it up, move it into the garage, change the oil, change the manual fluid, fog the engine and put it up on jackstands and over it until it is time to drive again.
Well, it is that time again. "summerized" it on Thursday and it is back on the road.
Now that all the unimportant information is out of the way, here is my dilemma.
I purchased some 5w30 Pennzoil Ultra mainly because I wanted to get it in time to get my free Ferarri hat lol. I run 5w30 syn in the Eclipse 3.8l and the Kia 2.0 so I knew I would use it.
I have about 200 miles on the Castrol Edge that I installed before I stored the car for the winter. I'm anxious to use my new oil. Would it be considered a huge waste to drain the Edge and fill it with the new Ultra? I'm trying to convince myself that the oil in the engine went through all sorts of abuse and climate change during the winter that prob has affected the quality of the oil (lol I know that is not true by any means) but I feel bad dumping $20 worth of basically new oil.
Do I change the oil just so I can use my new oil and dump it? Or I could drain it and save it to either use again or put in the Kia, or just drive it with the Edge in there until it actually needs to be changed??
I know I'm not the only one who has prematurely changed my oil because I wanted to try something new.
