Any home remedies out there?, I detest using insecticides/pesticides.....waaay too much of that stuff in the enviroment for my "tastes". Ever hear of spraying one with pepper spray? thanks

There are some more friendly than others - they do a good job of killing and biodegrade very rapidly. Check at Ace or TrueValue....avoid Ortho....I get them early when they are setting up house. Now there is no problem.

I admire your intentions. But getting into a car and driving down to the grocery store does way more damage to the environment than a couple of sprays with wasp spray. Just get something that has a good stream and 2 seconds of spray ends all.

They don't fly at night - so knock it down into your trash can with a plastic liner and twist tie it up.

Real men go mano-y-mano with the critters.

Stand outside their abode and shout out a challange.

If they ig nore you smack their home with a stick.

Then, as they scramble to attack wield your weapon and prepare for battle.

I recommend a tennis racket.

I had a big one last summer under an eave. The nest was the size of a basketball. After a major few spritzes with WD40 to oil down their wings, I hit it hard with a power washer.

There's people that will remove them for free, at least a guy here that posts a few signs around town. I think they use them to for research or medicine?

Another chemical free method is to wait til dark (when they are all home). Then freeze blast the nest with a co2 fire extingusher. That'll slow them down for good while and you can remove the nest to a different location (don't get any funny ideas, bees can be dangerous to some people).

That WOULD work.....but in my line of work that's a no no.....in fact it would get me in big trouble.....as a matter of fact that would land me in jail, FOR A LONG TIME.

What kind of nest ? The mud ones can just be crushed and cleaned off. For the underground ones pour something sticky down the hole and drop a big rock on it, although you may need to break that job into several parts, each preceeded by running around the yard swatting at the air and yelling, been there and done that :^)

The big hanging nests can be collected into a heavy duty bag of some sort, as someone else suggested. For wasp nests in structures either plug with something, or try hanging strips of duct tape at the entrance, to trap them on the adhesive.

Makes sense, it stops other insects in their tracks, any spray detergent type cleaner does.

Just buy the quick drop ****e and be done with it.

I mean it's not like it's going right into the drinking water!

Paper wasps is what we are talking about. The ones around here like to use the outer crust of cedar lumber to scrape off and build their huge hanging abodes. Kinda cool really. They kill bad bugs and honestly compared to the ground dwelling hornets and crap, they are fairly docile.

Paper wasps are nothing compared to a ground nesting white assed hornet ( I think the proper name for them is a bald faced hornet). They sting for sport. The only thing I can compare the sting to is when I got shot with a pellet gun, worst sting I've ever had.. makes a bee sting seem downright pleasant.

I stepped off a bank when mowing my grandfather's lawn when I was 10 or 11. Felt a pinch near my armpit. The a few more. I got about 11 stings before I got clear. Luckily I didn't have any allergic reactions. Mongrel western breeding in its finest hour...

Similar story: I was a kid and mowing a neighbors lawn near a creek and got stung a bunch of times. I ran and the lawn mower was parked (running) over tha yellow jacket's nest (in the ground.) Watching those yellow devels flying under the (running) lawn mower getting back to their nest (and getting shreaded). Gave me great happiness

. Dad finished them off later with some gasoline and lit it.
