Does anybody else mix their own washer fluid? I have been using ZEP window cleaner for years and I'm still mixing out of the same gallon jug I bought at Home Depot 10 years ago. One cap full per 1 gallon of water. I"m interested in knowing what other concoctions you guys might be using. Thanks

I use Einszett (1Z) "kristall klar" washer fluid concentrate for the last 10 years or so. A great performing product.

+1 im curious

Same here since I go through a ton of WWF with all the cars I service. Does not get to cold here in NC but it does go down to the 20's a few times in the winter.

Buyer's clubs often sell winter stuff 6 gallons at a time for a under a buck and a half each. I add a little "Blue Coral" detergent sold by Wallyworld especially for washer use.

I have never had it freeze...but I don't live in a particularly cold climate. I'm sorry to say I had not considered temperatures well below freezing for weeks on end. I'm sure my concoction wouldn't work for you guys in cold climates!

When Walmart has it for $2/gallon with -35C (-31F) protection it makes it pretty easy and it does its job effectively without harming finishes etc. My brother in law used to add a mild soap to his wwf to help with bugs it stripped away the wax, clear coat and caused rust to develop much faster. Not saying this is typical, just what I have seen.

No real answer here but in most of Calif the anti-freeze compound has been taken out of all washer fluid because it harms the enviroment. I use a mix of 50% Windex, 25% de-natured alcohol and 25% water with 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap, works good for me and does not appear to damage paint.

Thats the final breaking straw, no Kreen and now no WW antifreeze. What will be next, a ban on pressure washer antifreeze? No living in Calif. for me. I would rather deal with the cold and snow of upstate NY and be able to enjoy the aforementioned luxuries.

When I was a kid the local full service "gas station" used a 50/50 mix of ammonia and water. It seemed to work good but the ammonia has probably been outlawed also!

I have used I think every brand available at stores. By chance I found one I REALLY like.

I used to just use RainX. Then I tried a new one from the maker Splash. You usually see the cheap blue splash brand at dollar stores and gas stations.

They came out with a "premium" line of "all season" stuff that is great. Two little squirts does the job perfectly.

This is going to be my first winter season using it, so we will see how it performs at de icing.

Be sure to look for the 3 in 1 for de icing. The 2 in 1 is not for freezing temps.

I just buy the gallons OTC stuff. Its green whatever it is. If I go to the high Sierra elevation during cold, then I'll dip a spill of Heet (yellow bottle) since I have several old bottles of the stuff.

So the pointy headed weenies take the alcohol OUT of washer fluid, but demand it be ADDED to gasoline. I't time to start throwing the sabots into the gears.

We rarely use washer, I bought 2 gallons washer fluid about 14-15 years ago and just poured the last quart in the E430 reservoir. I think we can use filter water as washer fluid in So Cal.

I think I use washer on my S2000 no more than 10 times in 9 years, I only added filter water into the reservoir once in 9 years.

Clorox Green Works all-purpose cleaner...2oz to a gallon of tap water works just great...

....but no freezing temps here in south Florida...

After trial and error I just decide to buy Prestone DeIcer all year long. It does a fantastic job in ice/snow and during the summer for bugs.

^^^That's what I use in the winter (lowest freezing point I've seen yet)!

In summer, I just use distilled water, as I'm afraid of the possible damage to my wax/paint/clearcoat when this (or ANY other chemical solution) hits the hot BLACK surfaces of my roof/sides.
