Was reminded why I hate just walking into parts stores

McDonald app, buy and order on your phone, they walk it out to a designated parking spot. No wait, easy as pie.

Hey, does the app have those "unlisted items" that they don't show on the store menu? (like Cinnamon melts)

Remember when clothing stores actually had tailorists working on the sales floor? You go in to buy clothing and they measure/fit you and the clothing is tailored and altered to fit. Not anymore. Same with autoparts chains. Casheiring there and at Macy's are one in the same.

Go to Napa and the same guys wait on you that did years ago. Go to AZ and the neighbors kid hollers my name … he looks sharp in his new AZ shirt … but I know him and might ask advice on air freshener … ...¬

While I get what you are saying, I'm pretty sure drive-through is timed while they want you to just order at the kiosk in the lobby when you are there.

They are trying to do effectively the same in drive-through with the mobile phone app. Just order on the way and park in one of the mobile order spots and be done...

Yelling at the employee really doesn't help. They are probably told to handle drive-through first.

I scold the phone answerer after he hangs up.
If I've been there in-line waiting for service and he begins servicing phone calls that are taken after we arrive for service, I let him have-it verbally.
I've done this at McDonalds too. If I'm in-line and waiting 2 minutes and I see a vehicle drive around to the Drive-Thru and get waited-on before me, I chastise them, then walk out. There's no way I'm ordering food after ripping them a new butt-hole.

Advance drives me nuts, I have had to purchase some items there.

You can only use their coupon codes online for in store pickup.

I have stood at the register ordering parts online to use a 40 percent code.

I have stopped going to parts stores in general, except for items I can't get online such as batteries.

Just got back from Auto Zone to buy some oil. Drained the oil in the Rav4 and didn't have enough to fill it back up. Cheapest oil at AZ is STP for $18.99 for HM conventional. Other name brand oils were $25 to $33 for the 5qt jug. Went to Walmart and bought 4 jugs for $60.

What a bunch of Walmart people there. There was a car parked next to us that was full of Chick-fil-A cups. The whole back seat area was filled to the bottom of the windows with cups with straws in them. Had to be a few hundred cups.

This is almost certainly why 'management' says that. If you don't answer the phone, the person calling will just call another auto parts store. If a person has already driven to the store and is waiting, odds are they'll just wait a bit longer. There may not be another auto parts store nearby or by the time they drive to another one, they could already be taken care of after waiting a few extra minutes at the first store.

Yeah, I think that was all made up. Never seen a McDonalds or any fast food restaurant that didn't have separate staff for walk-in vs drive-thru.

You don't shop at Don Rodgers?

I hate walking into most stores these days Autoparts or otherwise, and it is not really the overworked underpaid employees, but the hyper entitled, overwhelmingly ignorant and inconsiderate clientele.

As well as all the smart phone viewing drivers on the way there, and back, who due to gender, or the amount of participation trophies on their shelves, think they are special and can multitask better than anybody else therefore are entiteld to drive while staring at their phone.

I hate the whole "answer phones before helping customers in line [censored]" too but we get phone shopped by corporate randomly and if we don't answer in 3 rings etc. We get a bad score on the report and it can result in a write up. So if you give me a hard time about that I'll return the favor and probably pretend I know absolutely nothing about cars, work through your transaction as slowly as possible, and generally be a **** right back to you. You probably think I'm an idiot anyway so why should I try to prove you wrong.

Remember, in all likelyhood the guys last job just required him to know the difference between a burger with and without cheeze.

My last job was doing component level repairs on computer boards and refurbishing desktops, laptops, and servers, I'm sure I can click a few buttons on a screen to select the correct year, model, and engine size to find your part.

Yes, but can you tell me the proper spark plug gap for a 1993 Ford Power Stroke engine?

Is that 2wd or 4wd?

How about a totally separate phone for commercial account holders and regular customer questions...

And let a single person be responsible for that line only... Maybe 2 at most... Leave the rest of the staff to help people in the store right in front of them.

That is generally how it is done in the chain parts houses. I know when I call and say where I am calling from they will pause and say "o let me get you commercial" and transfer me to the next phone over. Thankfully I have online ordering for the parts houses I use when necessary.

Yeah that does make most sense to me...

I have never given anyone a hard time at a parts store in regards to this type deal... like a phone circumstance. Or having to wait at times... I am not typically in a big hurry 98% of the time when I go to a store.

Only time I'm in a hurry... When there's meat on the grill or meat is being smoked.

Then I am usually hauling donkey.

I did give a guy a hard time trying to sell me on r 134a with the stupid stop leak in it... He did not take heed or listen to what I said very straight forwardly and he started trying to tell me that other junk was ok...then he got a uncensored statement that was not very nice. I did not care... Because that junk may not do well with one's AC system. And I came in for just regular r 134a not other unwanted junk added. Do not try to upsell me on something. I was just not in the mood that day to deal with that foolishness.

The only problem with the app is that it's so slow, if you have a simple order, it's easier to just talk to the cashier. Lately with the drive through, the app and the ordering screens, there's no line at the cashier and it's faster.

Yeah, I've had to the same thing. The store employee just stood there while I ordered. It popped up in their system pretty quickly so once the order was placed, I got it right away.
