Walmart Quaker State & Full Synthetic Difference?

Warning: Off-topic but related to the evolution of this conversation.

I have a dry, sarcastic, New England sense of humor that often doesn't accurately translate to the written word. It's taken the wrong way by people, including some moderators. . . .and it has gotten me in trouble. I'm working on that, but I'm old dog that doesn't easily learn new tricks. I mention this only because I know that most people on these forums are well-meaning, but their real sentiment doesn't easily translate to words. It doesn't cost anything to be nice. Be humble, and carry on! --Rob

Probably not. You and some others made him feel very unwelcome in his first post and first thread. I think you and some others ran him out of the forum. Try not to feel too proud.

I wouldn't still come back to BITOG again if I was him. The OP of this thread was his first ever post. He told me a moderator deleted the part of his info that would have helped us understand what he was asking about. Then a bunch of senior members said he didn't provide enough info. At first members were reasonably nice about it, but then some senior members started having an ugly accusational tone toward the OP, which grew from there.

Early in the thread I politely told the OP that he hadn't provided enough info, but I was reasonably nice about it. So he PM'd me to explain his questions in detail, including a link a mod had deleted from his OP. So once I understood his questions, I helped him in a PM reply and then posted that same info to the thread in post #8 so everyone would understand what his questions were. Obviously in hindsight I should have only replied to his PM and not posted the info publicly. I posted it because I thought you all might want to know what his PM was about.

In that post, I diplomatically omitted mentioning that the moderator had deleted the info from the OP that you all needed to understand the OP's questions. But then several of you started jumping all over me and the OP more than ever because I hadn't explained that the moderator had deleted the crucial info you all needed.

The OP got the info he needed from me and probably won't return to BITOG again after the way he was treated in his 1st thread. I wouldn't return if I was him.

Congrats to those people who belittled and condscended to the new guy about his first post and thread. 👍 Way to go!

Also, thank you @Glenda for belittling me for helping the OP. 👍 I've always liked and respected you and thought you're decent. I may have to reevaluate.

I realize that initially no one had enough info to help the OP or understand what he was asking, but you did know it was his 1st post. Is it really so shocking that a new member hadn't yet filled out his profile? Is it a reason to post negative things to/about the new member?

You could all see that I made an honest effort to help the OP. Is that a reason to belittle me or try to discredit me Glenda? If you had better advice for the OP, why didn't you give it to the OP? After my post #8 you had enough info to be helpful (if you wanted to be helpful).

I couldn't explain more info any sooner than I did because my smartphone was broken down most of today. I certainly didn't expect to return to this thread to see this nasty conduct toward a new member or towards myself for trying to help the new member.

@Wwilson would like to grow the forum, which means getting more members, which means getting new members and keeping them (not running them off). Is this how new members are treated? Is this how a person trying to help a new member is treated?

This is not the first time I've seen this conduct from longtime members. It's becoming too common in recent times. Normally I just leave nasty threads with nasty people behaving badly and don't say much about it, if anything; but this was a new member's first post and first thread and likely his last. I doubt he'll return to BITOG. I think some people in this thread are proud of themselves for running off a new member. So this time I'm speaking up. There's too much needless nastiness happening too often in too many threads. It's usually the same clique of longtime members bullying and belittling others. Doing it to a new member was a total lack of decency.
What are you talking about? I asked him if he was comparing to Walmart synthetic oil, and commented that if that was the case then there was little difference compared to the other oil. Which is true.

Try and not see offence under every rock. Mature a bit.

Quaker State, Pennzoil and Shell are under the same roof. The difference between Quaker State and Pennzoil is Pennzoil has a higher budget when making the oil...Quaker State has a more limited budget to produce a value oil. Its likely the same teams that engineer Pennzoil Ultra Platinum also make Quaker State.

Kirkland is made by Warren.

Thus having no other information but that I would say Quaker State is better. However in actual oil UOA tests there isnt a great difference between the two oils.

Personally speaking I wouldnt use these oils past 5000 miles no matter what is printed on the bottle.
