I sign Micky Mouse with an address of 123 disney lane Orlando FL each and every time. None of the state/EPA/Feds business what I bring in.

They should be thankful that people take their oil back. Where is my rebate for the oil disposal fee that I paid?

Some people will work harder to steal than to earn money legally.

Only Walmart would exchange oil, they'll even take lightbulbs back -- one reason I shop there. No questions when returning something.

My wife used to work in the shoe dept of a Walmart. You would be amazed (and disgusted) upon hearing what people successfully return to the Walmart shoe dept.

heck, you'd be amazed what they will accept as returns. when i worked there ten years ago, a lady brought a cake back. it was 2 weeks old, and about 80% of it was gone. she said it tasted funny and got a full refund

Love it. I would use the Mickey Mouse idea but most places scoff at me bring it in a 5 gallon bucket.

Now I just fill the 5 gallon bucket and hammer on the lid, write USED on the top and leave it at the door.

Beat the guy with his own dipstick!

There are about 3 businesses, myself included, that will fight over your used oil. Here in Wyoming where the winters get cold, we want it to burn in a used oil heater to heat our shops. Just bring it in, I'll take it.

I used to know someone we went to change their oil and the oil filter had been switched with a cheaper brand. This is 20 plus years ago when I used Fram; the Fram had been switched with a cheap Kmart filter. So even now I open the box when I get it off the shelf.

Same thing happened to my brother twice! He bought castrol gtx, takes it home, drains his oil and then has no new oil to put in because it was all blck sludge! After calling me twice in one year to pick him up to take him back to the store now he opens the castrol bottle in the store to be sure it sill has the plastic film still intact. I wouldent try this with all brands as some dont have that plastic film.

I have seen a Mobil 1 jug at my Walmart which was open and was filled with very harsh smelling oil, definitely not Mobil 1. Yes it is a good idea to check if the silver seal is intact.

I don't know if that was a mis-print, or if "babies" is being used in a way I'm not familiar with, either way I can't explain how entertained I am by that statement

The cheap Kmart Motorvator filter was of higher quality than the Fram.

I can just see the look on the clerks face at 7-11 when I walk in with my used oil, I f there is such a law in MI I am not aware of it.
Can you find it? I'm gonna look too. I want to try this out @7-11 and the liquer store on the corner.

Imagine the look on their faces! LOL

I thought the law said that if a place is in business to change oil then they have to accept used oil.

No mis-print. Firestations in Texas take babies (as in little people). They are considered a "safe house" where you can take babies and leave them with no questions asked.

In addition, i believe they take used oil and some other house-hold chemicals. Of course they also put out fires and save people.

That got me to thinking...i wonder how much oil the sump on a fire engine holds?

Illinois has the same thing. Most/all fire houses that are 'manned' 24 hours are safe places. They are clearly designated so with the yellow sign. Also, some police departments are safe places as well.

Thanksfully I haven't come across used oil sold as new. I've seen it with other things. I think our Wal-Mart is wise to this as I had picked up a jug of ST and one PP to give my buddy a choice of which oil he wanted me to put in his truck (don't recall why I didn't just call him on the cell phone). I convinced him to go with the PP and returned the ST with receipt and they checked the cap.

Our landfill accepts used oil and filters and a few weekends ago I brought ~2 gallons while hauling my trash and found out that they are now paying $.40/gallon for used oil so now that I'm going to the landfill every few weeks anyway, I'll just take my oil there instead of the local auto parts store.
