Wall/ceiling stud senser

I am looking for a affordable stud senser that can penetrate a plaster and lath wall, that works effectively? tried a lower tier one, but does only give false images, any thoughts?

Is there any metal wire in the walls like mine? Those tools wont work at my place due to that.

there may be electrical wires, possibly on the sides of the wood studs.

The prosensor max that QP posted is the current king of the readily available stud finders IMO.

Franklin is on my radar, Harbor freight has a m-150 that may do the job, looked at Walmart hyper tough, they have two models that are also made by Franklin. the pro senser max is a good thought too, only I do only buy tools etc in person at a given store ,preferably.

I don't think any of them have ever been any good or useful.

For something critical like a wallmount TV, I drill a small hole under the baseboard trim and measure each way to see where the stud is.

,all we have is Menards in this area, which carry's only a few Zircon and Kreg .

Have you looked at Bob Vilas or This old house website? They usually have great tool recommendations.

Just a update, got the Franklin M-150 Pro senser (Harbor Freight), works good even on plaster/lath walls, and the electrical detector is functional also, better than the goofy Zircon.
