Just got my new rig from Dell. From what I'm seeing, I can no longer use OE under Vista. Windows Mail is what I'm stuck with. I kind of got used to OE's simplicity. I tried Windows Mail a few months ago and I hated it, so I'm not even going to fire it up on the new PC. I guess I'm going to give Thunderbird a try.

What e-mail client are you folks using under Vista?

QP, go to Windows Live and update to the Windows Live Mail software. It makes a BIG difference. I've switched to the Win Live Mail and have been happy with it so far.

In addition, download the photo update from Windows Live. It makes dealing with photos a bunch easier. Dunno why MS didn't come out with this software years ago.

Plus, as of June 30, OE and Windows Hotmail won't even talk to each other; so if Hotmail is one of your accounts, you'll have to use Windows Live Mail.

I also upgraded Vista to Windows Live Mail from Windows Mail - Free upgrade.

It also works with Windows XP.

I spend the vast majority of my computer time in Linux and use Thunderbird.

Also have it installed in Windows.

One feature I like with both Windows Live Mail is you can separate both POP and IMAP email accounts.

If you have more than one POP account, just make sure to take the check mark out of Global as you setup them up in Thunderbird.

I had MSN as my provider and was grandfathered into Hotmail years ago (now Windows Live). Hotmail had that nifty software program for years that sized photos when uploaded. Loved it. I use the simple version of Windows Live. Problem is that is makes photos a little too small for my liking. It was better in Hotmail.
