Thanks for posting this! I'm considering moving away from Motorcraft on the V6 Mustang since warranty is not a concern. Was thinking about Wix or Fram Ultra. This helps!

The fold creases between the two are very different. Does this signify much thicker media in the Fram Ultra?

The Ultra is 2-layer full synthetic media with a stiff wire backing ... so that's why there are less pleats and they look thicker.

Dang I should get 2 fram oil filters for my vw and tear open one and see if its really this good, maybe even use one in my vehicle

No need to waste one ... plenty of opened up new and used Ultras in this forum.

Fram Ultras are the most consistent filter quality wise I've ever personally cut. Not to mention you will virtually not find a more efficient filter on the market today. Recent iso 4548-12 testing done by ascent filtration testing LLC found them to be 99.8% efficient at 15 microns. The Acdelco gold was 88% efficient at 15 microns, virtually the best you will find in a standard synblend oil filter.
