A couple of days ago I saw a '64 full-size Chev stopped at a red light. Four-door sedan, black or dark blue, very basic and very clean. The light turned and the Chevy lurched away, and I thought "standard transmission". Sure enough, as the car cleared the intersection, the 20ish male driver did the characteristic 'up-forward-up' 1-2 shift of the three-on-the-tree transmission. I was not surprised to see four taillights (Biscayne or Bel Air) rather than six (Impala).

It was funny, because a friend had just put me onto the Uni-watch website, I'd checked it out for the first time, and tney'd shown a gorgeous '63 Chev in front of the skeleton of the under-construction Astrodome.

This morning I saw a parked Morris Minor 1000000 in absolutely minty condition. There was a small plaque on the dash which said that this car was an exact replica of the one millionth Morris Minor produced.

I need to remember to carry my camera around.

I like the idea of this thread. Check out this Fiat RAM!

I work on the weekends so it's interesting to see the Sunday drivers out.

Cool thread idea! I haven't seen anything that cool yet, but in MN it's only been nice for about 2 weeks. I can't wait to see the real gem's coming out of hiding soon.

I did see a brand new Aston Martin the other day, not even sure the model but it was obviously brand new. Also had a beautiful newer Rolls-Royce cruise past me on the highway recently. Don't see those often around here.

Saw one of those all the way in MI! Pretty interesting!

I live in the Denver metro area.
Car companies do high altitude testing in the Rockies.
During the summer they can get as high as 12000 feet.
I do get to see a lot of cars that are not in production yet.
Sometimes they are in full camouflage and sometimes not.
They will sometimes have no badging on them, but you can tell who made them.

the warm weekends bring out the nice early year rides, cars of the days gone by were BEAUTIFUL!!!! todays cars are good on gas + even cheap ones handle + brake well + some of the $$$ ones are fast but NO PERSONALITY!!!!

Wow, that is interesting! Are these being test marketed in the US? I could see this being a big hit - and FCA needs something to compete with the Colorado/Canyon twins and the revived Ranger. I wonder if the Dakota name will be revived?

That GTO is what, a '66 or '67?

That Z car is gorgeous. With the battering-ram bumper it's what, a '75? So not a 240, maybe a 260 or a 280?

The first two grab me - I think the Camaro is a '69, and the Ford is a '65, correct?

Back to the park this afternoon, and there was the Morris Minor again:

Per Wiki:

Minor Million
In December 1960 the Morris Minor became the first British car to sell more than 1,000,000 units. To commemorate the achievement, a limited edition of 350 two-door Minor saloons (one for each UK Morris dealership) was produced with distinctive lilac paintwork and a white interior. Also the badge name on the side of the bonnet was modified to read "Minor 1,000,000" instead of the standard "Minor 1000". The millionth Minor was donated to the National Union of Journalists, which planned to use it as a prize in a competition in aid of the union's Widow and Orphan Fund. The company, at the same time, presented a celebratory Minor to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, but this car was constructed of cake.

The chrome dealer label on the trunk (or boot) reads 'Motor Sales Winnipeg'. Motor Sales sold and serviced imported cars for decades, but folded some years ago. At various times they sold British Leyland, Lada, and Saab. The tune-up/oil change franchise I worked at in 1980 was in the former Motor Sales building. Motor Sales had moved on to much grander premises.

The Galaxie might have been a 64. The Camaro i wanna say is a 67. My boss has tons of old guy friends who bring in cool stuff all summer. The Galaxie should be in soon for its yearly Valvoline Conventional 10w40, bottle of ZDDP, and a Motorcraft filter, with a whopping 2-300 miles since last year haha. I love working on old cars. Oh and ill tell you guys what, those GT350s are the best. Better driving than i ever would have imagined. Over 520hp and anyone who can drive a stick could toy it around town comfortably. The clutch and gear lever are light as a feather and precise. The seats are supportive yet comfortable, and the alcantara steering wheel feels delightful. Its borderline luxurious, certainly for a sports car. But get into it and its an animal. My boss won't let us race the 08 GT500. He needs a vacation

I was going to pull you up on the Minor 1000000 typo - lucky I didn't show my ignorance. That's really special.

I thought someone was being clever, and had soldered two sections of chrome trim together, but I couldn't see the joint, and couldn't see why anyone would anyway. I also wondered why anyone would paint a car that colour ...

Was pleased to read the backstory!

The Galaxy is a 65-67, probably a 65 if I am seeing the grill correctly. 64 and 68 were differed bodystyles.

The Camaro is a 69 (again 67-68 and 70 up different bodystyles.)

Nice looking cars.
