Saw this '67 Chev Impala today while cycling home from church. The odometer showed 57,000 or 67,000 miles - I couldn't tell for sure. If the owner had been around I would have loved to see under the hood.

The crossed flags on the front flank do not have a '327' (or larger) above them, indicating to me that the car was equipped with the 283 base V8. (Surely no-one would order a drop-top Impala with an inline 6.)

I forgot to look closely at the transmission gear selection display to see whether the transmission was a Powerglide (PRNDL) or a TurboHydramatic (PRNDL2L1).

Beautiful car. Love the look of the 1967-1968 Chev Impala.

Doesn't matter about the engine; with the top down on a nice summer day it would be a beautiful cruiser!

Nice lookin car.

Anything other than 427/4 speed is an old man car

Your opinion only.

I would've ordered it with a 283 2bbl powerglide back then. Now if a person could go back in time......it would've been a 427 4 speed, simply because it would be worth more if left bone stock......but we know that probably wouldn't have happened.

Sweet car!!!

Remember back then options were different than they are now, you could add 60-80% to the price of a base car loading 'er up. A "base" 283 convertible would be great for the gentleman who just liked sunshine. We all think withour rose-tinted glasses they were all amazing hot rods but this thing probably has performance on par with a 2001 Chrysler Sebring, and chased a similar clientele.

True. A lot of base trim models were sold in those days, unlike now.

Many years ago I had a '68 Impala SS convertible with the 327/300HP and Turbo 400-it was fun to drive, although it had a broken top frame (due to a previous owner trying to lower or raise the top at speed) and a ton of Bondo in the fenders. 55 MPH in first, close to 85 in 2nd, never found out the top in 3rd-it must have had super low gears. Finally scrapped it due to (I thought) I'd never find the top frame rails for it (and the Bondo was falling out). It was fun for a while, though.

Also, I had 2 Impala SS coupes with the 283 2-barrel & Powerglide (a '64 & a '65)-they were reasonably quick for as heavy as they were, but handling & braking were both not too good. I never liked the '67's looks that much, but that one is a beauty!

The one thing I've have wanted upgrade would be the gauge package - the big tach-looking round pod on the left is actually the fuel gauge. The speedo is in the middle, and there's an analogue clock on the right. The dash looks unfinished as is.

Two of the four small round pods, on the upper L and upper R, are blanks. The one on the lower L is split into two idiot lights, BRAKE above, and HOT below. (OK, I don't see an alternative to an idiot light for brake pressure.) The one on the lower R says OIL above and GEN below. I'm sure there was an optional package where the big gas gauge would have been replaced by a tach, and the four smaller pods would have held a fuel gauge, an oil pressure gauge, a temperature gauge, and an ammeter. (GM of that era preferred ammeters to voltmeters.)

My B-I-L had a brand new '66 Impala SS coupe with a 283 2-bbl & Powerglide. It was bright blue inside and out - a truly beautiful car. Handling and performance were indifferent but it was great for cruising.

. Not really. The L78 396/375 HP option would suit this old man just fine. Add the Muncie M21 with say a 410 gear, then point me to where the Roadrunners and Torino’s hang out! ( Sorry, occasionally I tend to step back in time 50 years or so.)

. Oldhp, that would be sweet! I didn’t own a 67 Impala but I did own a 1966 Chevelle SS396 Marina blue 4 speed 4.10 posi with the L34 360 HP 396. You know the arm drop wouldn’t work, we would just smoke the tires off, so the start would have to be from a 10 mph roll. We’ll meet at the A&W afterwards and you can buy me a root beer.
