Vegemite is again available in the US

I just bought a 150 g jar (new design) at Cost Plus for $6.99. As some of you may know, Vegemite had been removed from US store shelves due to its folic acid content some time last year or the year before. The current imported version clearly states "Contains Folic Acid." Silly, since all the contents are listed anyway.

I had an avocado with my Indian grub last night.

Seriously, last time I had vegemite (20+ years ago) it was pure salt, and not a good salt at that. You have me wanting to at least taste the stuff again....but sheesh, what to do with the rest of the jar??

Vegemite is the nastiest stuff I've ever tasted. Our daughter brought back a jar with her when she came home from uni in Queensland. Took me a couple beers and a pickle to get that taste out of my mouth.

LOL. Some Britsh friends of mine sent me some Marmite a couple years back. They told me I had to try it. They also told me it's a "love it or hate it" type of thing. I hated it. It sat in my cupboard for two years before I chucked it. I just kept it around to trick people into eating it.

I tried it visiting Australia. It's not that bad! It is concentrated yeast extract. Lots of B vitamins. Now I understand the song "down under" by the group Men at Work.

Spread it thinly guys, very thinly like just dirtying your bread as my daughter says. I'd guess those who don't like it spread it thickly.

Well we don't eat Vegemite we changed to Our Mate which personally is much better and less sodium.

There's quite a few "billionth jar"s at my local shop.

I compared the new jar with the old one. It's almost the same jar, only bigger. The old jar contained 113 g, the new one holds 150 g.

Breakfast idea for mori.

Toast a piece of bread one one side, smear with vegemite, cover vege with thinly sliced cheese and grill...I have it a few times a week...yum.
