Hi,
This weekend I will be doing the transmission fluid exchange on my 2006 Elantra. Im debating between using either of these two
ATF's. Today, I confirmed both with Hyundai and Vavoline and
Castrol that these fluids are indeed 100% compatible with SPIII.

I have 29,000 miles on my Elantra.

Since these two ATF's claim to be both full synthetic, is one
really better than the other?

Thanks!

Is it still under the warrantee? Why not use the atf from the dealer
That is what i did with my Mercury Grand Marquis while it was still under warrantee i went to the dealer and got a case of motorcraft mercon 5 and used my electric pump and pumped some out then drove it for a mile or two then did it again two more times that was at 25,000 miles it now has 40,000 and not under warrantee so now i will go to the dealer and buy motorcraft oil and filter and do the pan drop..
I did not want to do that before because if i had a problem with the transmission they might have used that as an excuse

It does not matter! I confirmed with Hyundai Consumer Affairs
that Vavoline Maxife and Castrol ATF+4 are approved by Hyundai
and WILL NOT void the warranty.

Both oils are great.

I have had great luck with the valvoline synthetic automatic fluids. That is what I would suggest.

Why change the ATF? Does Hyundai reccomend that you change it at 30,000 miles? My dodge reccomends that you change it at like 50,000 miles. Anyways I would buy whatever is cheaper if they are both approved by hyundai. Personally I would use Amsoil but thats just me.

I would also use Amsoil, but for whatever reason, some people do not see the benefit of paying more for a superior AT fluid

i know thats what they say but!

Sometimes its better not to take any chances i always took my new car in for dealer service within warrantee time and i own my own shop!
I am very close to an Attorney that was also a judge that used to hear lemon law cases and sometimes the car companies try to get out of paying..

I would use ATF+4. Where did you see the maxlife claim it is synthetic? I have never seen that but would be interested in looking at it.

Coin toss. ATF+4 is what I would use. Availability in multiple and store brands is excellent. Price is reasonable.

It says it on the back of the bottle, not sure why they don't make a bigger deal out of it though. I work for Ashland and have been told by those higher up in the company that the maxlife atf is a full synthetic ATF.

Valvoline Maxlife ATF has me interested as a drain+fill candidate to use with the Schaeffer 204SAT that I currently use.

What's a good drill-powered pump to use for pumping the tranny fluid out, and where can I get one?
