in service 5400 miles

out/off: Dealer bulk 0w-20 with valvoline V0-88

in/on: 1.5quarts HPL EC30 and 6.5 quarts Valvoline EP HM 5w-30 with Fram Endurance FE10575

interesting that this truck was serviced at the dealer prior to our purchase and it had a valvoline jobber filter on it. nice premium guard but the nitrile ADBV was leaking when i tilted it on the side.

Filter looks good, but they put a jobber filter on at the deallership and not an OEM? Can't say I have ever heard of that happening.

However, a few years ago, I did see the KIA dealership pouring O'Reilly house brand coolant into a car. so....anything is possible.

When we used VIOC they used the VO-88 on all the Transits, they seemed fine for a 5-7500 mile OCI. They appeared to be Purolator or Champ, and they were definitely undersized compared to the FL500S size they came with.

Nice photos and Thank You for cut and post.

I'd have no complaints if this filter was put on but you're right kind of wonder why from a dealer. Looks great.
It's always $$$. Same reason the Ford dealer used cheap bulk oil for oil changes instead of Motorcraft. When the company (realized Ford was ripping them off) & I started using VIOC & Maxlife blend in their oil burning '18 3.7 Transit 250, oil consumption dropped by 2/3!

When I was managing VIOC they were always using champ CHAMP labs, but I had to hang up my oil filter wrench, in 2011, due to health reasons.. actually once I recall a couple cases of VO39s which was for Honda's and on Hyundai's. But they deleted them and had the VO50 fit several foreign vehicles.
