Valvoline takes on EDGE, says 9X less wear than M1

Ok, here's the deal. Synpower claims to be 9x's better than "regular M1", and "as good" as Edge. But, Edge is suppose be better than regular Syntec. So I want to know how much better or how close Synpower comes to M1 EP? ????

Side step the whole thing and use a brand like Pennzoil that isn't in this [censored] contest.

The contest is entertaining, but when it comes down to getting my money none of the contestants are getting it.

I think I'm right there with you! Once my stash of Maxlife and Durablend is used up, I think I'll be looking for Pennzoil HM on sale.

Heck, if I find Mobil 1 HM 10w30 on sale I might grab some just to spite Castrol and Valvoline.

I guess you all were fat and happy before M-1 was exposed?
Now you are stuck with x cases of a product which apparently does not meet SM standards. I can see why you are irritated.

Nope, I don't have a stash. I buy what I need, when I need it. I will still buy M1 or any major synthetic and use them with confidence.

I may like a particular oil but I'm not going to bash the ones I don't use. I may dislike a particular oil company but I'm not going to bash it on this board at all.

The marketing isn't limited to just oil. Last week when I needed toothpaste, a popular brand had this printed on the box "cleans 7X better than the competition." LOL

If mobil 1 doesn't meet the API SM tests, then why do all my old bottles say API SM on them?

I might do valvoline synpower on my next oil change just to see if it produces a better UOA.

One of the potential problems is that these tests only determine wear in a particular area and not the engine as a whole.

Ridiculous marketing. Although they probably aren't lying, b/c Valvoline Synpower is really good. Castrol Edge is way overpriced IMO.

All I know is I bought synpower once because it was on super sale at schucks and it made my engine really loud when accelerating! My wife who knows nothing about cars and could care less asked me what I did to her car because it sounded like $h!!. I changed it out and it went back to normal. May have been something else but im not buying again.
