I think Valvoline Synpower is a GrpIII oil.Has anyone used this synthetic oil with good results? What kind of base oil does it contain? Thanks Joe

I haven`t seen Synpower for sale in years. I always see the dino or the blend. Where do they sell it? I`m a fan of their dino oil,I bet their synth is good stuff!

I used 1 quart of Synpower 5W-40 as an additive to my fill of Maxlife 10w30 during the last oil change event. Did I mention how fast the Synpower goes down the funnel?

Advance auto parts had bogo on synpower about a month ago, got about 30qrts of 5W30 and 20W50

I read on here more than once that Synpower goes down the funnel really fast so I think it's the best !!

I really love these highly technical and informative threads!!

ROFL. On a more serious note I use it, achieved 31mpg on 4 tanks in a row on the highway in my 28mpg rated Impreza. It is indeed energy conserving. No UOAs yet.
Im switching to Maxlife or Maxlife Synthetic when I run out of my supply of synpower.

Used it for 2 5k OCIs (3.5qt sump, so 5k is long enough) - and had no problems with it. IIRC it was $.99/qt after rebate, so most importantly I got my money's worth

I will continue to buy/use it whenever its on sale/rebate.

The 20w50 MSDS used to say PAO, but that may have changed.

i bought 24 qts of synpower in 5w30 and 10w30 and running it now (10w30). ill run these 5-6k miles TOPS.. not bad for 2.56$ a quart!! :-)

I used the SynPower 20W50 and 5W20.

20W50 was used in a 1985 911 with 170K miles. The MSDS said PAO and sure enough it leaked (a lot). I used Maxlife 20W50 as replacement for consumption which is high in this engine. The Maxlife got leakage under control once it got to ~30%. After that I put in QS Q-Torque 10W40 (GrpIII) and not leaking.

5W20 was used in a 2005 Ford Duratec 3L. I have yet to confirm this but over 5000 miles I got improved mpg (~5%). This was totally unexpected and I don't know why it happened. I made ajustment for a highway trip but mpg was even better than previous trips. I will run it again on next OCI after completing the baseline run of MC 5W20. There may have been some small consumption but this will need to be verified also.

Back in the Spring when the new bottles came out Advance was running the gallon jugs for $15. I bought up a couple but the trip alerted me to a ton of $2 clearance Maxlife Synth that I couldn't pass up.
