Dumping Pennzoil, it brought electrical gremlins to my jeep, I blame Pennzoil, everytime I try it something unrerlasted happens to my cars, so it at a minimum has an unacceptably high level of bad juju

That said....

was going to switch to maxlife 10-30, but saw the mobil super HM was $2 CHEAPER AT WALLY WORLD SO BOUGHT THAT INSTEAD, AND UPGRADED MY FILTER FOR THAT $2 SAVINGS FROM AN ocd TO THE SILVER MID LEVEL FRAM...

dID i MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE?

i USED ml IN ANOTHER OLD CAR i HAD AND LIKED IT, but decided tghe extra $2 was better spent on a better filter,.....now I worry.

Nobody ever speaks of Mobil Super HM

i Apologize for the caps and poor spelling grammar, [censored] keyboard got some pennzoil on it and has been acting up

I like maxlife myself but both should be fine. And if at walmart they have the Wix made Supertech filters cheap.

Also does it use/leak a fair amount of oil? You live in a colder climate, esp right now, so unless you use/leak oil I would use a 5w30.

Not the same popularity - but the same quality ... MS takes vehicles hundreds of thousands of miles -
- just like MaxLife will ...

I've used both VML and Mobil HM. I like both.

I've used the OCOD and the TG. I like both also. Typical OCI is around 5-7k for our 2003 Corolla. It has ~95k miles.

Go with whatever is the cheaper combo and call it a day.

And gained nothing for his vehicle and OCI.

+1 ... Not everybody wants or needs synthetic oil.

Maxlife blend (newer Dexos approved stuff) was one of the noisiest oils I have run in my Jeep so I'd say you are better off.

With the Mobil Super or with Mobil 1? I have heard such claims about Mobil 1, but never about Mobil Super... Mobil 1 is known to show high iron in UOAs, and theoretically that's bad, but practice shows that engines go way beyond 200k mile mark on Mobil 1, and sometimes even with no oil consumption at and after that point. I'm starting to think that iron could be a part of an additive package in some form...

I've used both Max Life and Mobil Super Hi Mileage. Both are semi-synthetic and do a good job. I prefer the Mobil simply because it is a buck or so cheaper and I feel it has a better synthetic mix and additive package. Just opinion, not fact. I also use the full synthetic Mobil 1 Hi mileage with great satisfaction.

That all being said - you won't go wrong with either choice.....heck for even less money the Supertech oil will do the job too.

Oh yeah...

I was looking at the ST filters, but I had no idea who manufactured it, I seem to remember reading that wally world uses different suppliers depending on your region....like they use Mobil or warren petroleum for their house brand oil, i remember reading they use WIX and somebody else....didn't want to take the chance of buying a bad filter.

All ST oil filters are Wix now. The old ones were made by champ, the Ecores.

Unless its leaking and/or using a fair amount of oil I would use the 5w30 in the winter. The first number is how it acts when cold so the 5 would flow better than a 10. 10w30 in summer is fine.
