I own a 2007 Mazda3 2.0 that usually gets a serving of either Motorcraft or Kendall 5w20 synthetic blend for 5K OCI. I went out of the norm this time and decided to use Valvoline conventional 5w20 for the first time. I know its probably all in my head but I have to say I can honestly feel a difference. The car runs smoother and is definitely a lot quieter using Valvoline. I might have to change to Valvoline from now on.

I've been using the Motorcraft for 7.5K. I'm switching to Edge with Syntec with a Bosch Distance+ filter. I plan on going 10k. AAP has it for $24.95 after a $5 mail in from Bosch. The Edge should easily go 10K.

Its in your head.

Maybe it sounds better because you are listening to the engine at the END of the oil cycle?! -Any new oil may sound better.

The oils you were using ARE top notch.

Since conventional oil is primarily what I use in our daughters
'06 Mazda 3 2.0L, although during the winter I may add 1 qt of PP to the mix, I do notice the difference between the 5W20 & 5W30 where the 30 makes the engine noticably quieter than the 20 w/o any MPG penalty.
