Valve stem problem

I've recently developed a problem with just one of my valve stems. I normally use my bike tire pump to top off my car's air pressure when I check it once a month.

Last weekend, while doing so, the nozzle of the pump would not stay on the valve stem--it kept getting popped off shortly after adding additional air.

Anyone else ever experience this? What would cause it? It only happens with this one tire...

Perhaps the outside threads are stripped on the valve.

That, or the valve body is corroded shut. They screw out and can be replaced for under a dollar.

Most likely the pump end is worn.
