Seafoam seesm quite the topic recently... I myself have wondered, though is it safe at all, to use it in your oil throght its average 3,000 miles lifespan? Direction on back, say to add to cranckcase oil, to increase visocity, horsepower, and clean things up. Same is addvertised on MMO. Would anyone recomend doing that, or kinda risky and dangerous? Last year i added MMO to my oil, pror to an oil change 3 days later.. interestin, engine gained power, and wnated to really move. However, since i hear and read its a solvent, i don't leave it in. Yet,w hen you read the bak of their containers, they say to add, not flush... so thats where this question comes from.

I believe that the chemicals in Seafoam mostly have a low boiling point. And will pass from the engine through the PCV system fairly quickly once the engine is warmed up. Even if so I still would be nervious about leaving it in the oil for any longer than a few minutes. Being a powerful solvent there is a strong possiability of a lot of "gunk" being cut loose to plug the oil filter and do other mischeif. Good luck. Rickey.

Why waste time with Seafoam? Just buy Chemtool or toluene straight from a hardware store and you'll have cleaning that will put Seafoam to shame. Same risks as Seafoam, though....

Do it & see. The old directions said it would not change with the interval. The directions on trans-tune still say that won't.
I would follow the directions on the can, or call them & ask. Their phone # & email are on their website.

Full bottle dose of Seafoam in the oil is a 5-10 minute flush.

If you want to run it in the oil for 3k miles, you need to use a treat rate of <~1.5 ounces per quart.
