edit to add this is running on a 02 Honda Accord
7500 miles is not that much at all really, I have run over 15k on Honda Accords with Mobil 1 EP, however I do admit I cut synthetics shorter around 12-13k. 7500 miles on these engines does not deplete the oil I assume from the OEM, and also UOA's from the forum as well. You could go even cheaper on oil changing it out every 1500 miles if you wish, however a filter change, nor a shorter oil change interval will not extend the life of an engine if both are still within range of quality.
Changing the oil, or oil filter just gives people a warm fuzzy feeling, if the oil or filter are not depleted, or at capacity (or more accurate at a given percentage before depleted/full of contaminates) then changing the oil/filter is not going to extend your engine life. It's not any better on your engine internals, it's not going to keep your engine any cleaner, etc etc.
A big myth going around that changing oil out early is better, I can't for the life of me understand why this gets repeated so much. How is changing oil, or a filter earlier going to extend the life of your engine ? If your reply is contaminates, new additives, etc etc then it's just wrong as studies by many people including the engine builders, oil makers, and many more show that both filters, and oil will "protect" (that's a word that's way over used) filters/oil will still lubricate, and hold contaminates, with additives left.
