Always thought it might be a good idea to have Amazon pull out and sink the entire USPS. Not sure a government operated postal system is necessary any more. Always rail at those Costco checkers who try to sell me stamps. "No thanks, I have six of them and hopefully that will do me til I die".

Other than three magazines a month, which I'll be dropping, I literally get nothing useful in my mail box. Sunday package delivery by Amazon is useful but no reason to keep that whole mess going. OTOH, I have strong libertarian tendencies.

.

Try sending a letter or small package UPS or fedex and you'll see the value of USPS. We as citizens get a government service that is affordable and vital.

UPS and fedex become necessary when you need to ship something big and bulky. Otherwise it's extremely expensive to ship small items with UPS/Fedex as they only operate on a profit based business model and have no obligation to provide a vital service.

Agreed. Government is responsible for infrastructure so we as people and businesses can prosper. The USPS delivers a letter/ check/ invoice for 1/2 a dollar to any address in this great nation no matter how inconvenient it is or how much money they lose doing it. And that helps all of us.
