Its been close to 1500 miles, and virtually NONE. Maybe a slivers worth, like the thickness of 4 pieces of printer paper if that.

Don't know if it was the WOT redline runs or the 1-4 shifting and using 5th and 6th when going over 50-60, but I think my problem is solved- thanks for all the advice.

Merry Christmas!

i'm going to say that the rings finally seated with the WOT pulls and driving it hard.

i remember when i rebuilt one of my honda motors a while back, it consumed oil until i beat the snot out of it at the track. i assumed the rings finally seated.

The LS2's have low friction rings that are allowing blow by. That is why GM wrote the letter letting us all know if you drive above 3K RPM it will use oil. Well let me see now. 06 GTO's and 06/07 Vettes. Yessir. I believe folks will run them above 3K on occasion! :)

I really do think WOT/high load does help seat the rings a bit more than driving it easy. I think this also helps reduce oil consumption even when rpms are above 3k.

Well whichever it was, I'm happy I didn't have to waste a day at the dealer, so they could tell me nothing is wrong. My mileage has gone from 18 mpg to 21.5, even 22 once. Thats a big difference when driving 540 miles per week. $65 a month....Thats a full tank + $14. Who needs a Prius??

I've rebuilt more engines than I could possibly remember... and my breakin-in method is this: Run the [censored] out of it. It'll seat the rings... and if anything breaks, then it never would've held anyway.

I think it'd apply just as well to a new engine.
