Took My 07 Accord in to dealer to get the oil changed today. Taken it easy so i can get the oil warmed up, eveythings up to operating temps, then i go to pass some one, hit the gas & nothing engine won't rev, won't kick down. think to myself thats wierd! Get home park it, have to go pickup my daughter from work & the same thing happens. Now i am thinking they installed the wrong wieght oil get home & check the oil level after it sits for 45 min, the oil was 3" above the full mark on the dipstick. Call the dealer they say bring it in Mon they will check it or drian it & refill it yourself. So I drain it out comes 9 qts of oil it took 20 mins for all the oil to drain out.I drove it 21 miles w/ it over filled by 4.5 qts what are some of the problems of over filling an engine w/ oil? This is the 2.4 vtec engine w/ 4900 miles on it.

You're fortunate that you caught it so quickly. Doubt you'll have any problems. Down side is that the dealer will probably deny any wrongdoing, since they didn't witness you draining that much oil out of the motor. But they would have probably denied the same if they had found the problem.

Maybe its just me, but I wouldn't go back to them...

keep that 9 quarts in a big jug and dump it in their showroom floor, then leave and never return.

Sounds like they added the oil and forgot to drain the old stuff out first.

maybe your dealership hired someone from jiffy boob to do the oil changes. I threw my free oil change coupons in the garbage. nice to know you spend 20 grand on a brand new car and some $6 hr punk kid trashes your engine.

You have the know-how to change your own oil, but you had the dealer do it?

Whats funny is my 17 year old daughter said to me before i left that i should just do it myself, how insitful! I end up under the car anyway!

When i called the service writer he told me it was the shop foreman who did the work on my car. But there were two techs working on my car at the same time so anything is possible! I'd like to

In my apartment complex we are not allowed to do any vehicle repairs or maintenance, so in my case I do not have much of a choice. A good friend of mine is a service advisor at a local Ford dealer though, so I never have to worry about low quality work.

Why not find a parking lot on a Sunday and work on it there?

Even on a Sunday, there are few empty parking lots around here. I'd rather not be half way under a car with tools laying around me here anyway. It puts you in a bad position if someone decides they want to rob you. Robberies happen all the time here. It is easier and safer to just drop the trucks off at my trusted dealer.

Most of those dealers use the oil guns that are on a retractable hose real. The guns have trigger locks on them so that you can walk away and do other things while you're filling up a customer's car.

I'd go back to the Stealership and talk to every manager that you can corner. Get something in writing. Tell them you could not drive the car to them, and you HAD to drain/fill the oil just to get going again.
There should be no permanent damage, but who knows?
Maybe a seal or gasket was compromised, or whatever.
