Turtle Wax "ICE"

I used the wax replacement not the detailer. The paint looked wet and shiney, but streaky when you tried to wipe it off. I think on a light colored car or white car it would be fine. Dark colors or black NG in MHO.

Yes YMMV, mine is an older car, could be that has something to do with it. Who knows?

I ended up doing the car with a 5 minute detailer from Mothers. The paint feels clean and smooth now, I am almost tempted to try it again on a small section, and see what happens. If I do I will report results.

I like the idea of a clear liquid product, and how easy it goes on.

Hey
I just tried some last night , on my hood and trunk. Those areas had the most scratches and swirls.
I have a black 00 civic.

A few things to point out, wait 8-10 minutes before buffing off. and ONLY use a microfiber cloth. Any thing else does not really work.

I applied two coats in one day..... and all I can say is WOW it looks like I have a brand new hood and trunk....

,

amazing campared to the other waxes I have used.

Now I MUST do the rest of the car...

the stuff takes a while to dry, and use that microfibre cloth for sure...., I guess there is a good reason why the polish comes with one.
what a great shine. !!!!!!

ill take some pics this weekend..

I only use MF towels, but I didn't wait that long as I was on my way into the office

I will try to let it sit longer next run.

I've used both the "Ice" wax and the "Ice" detailer for a few weeks now. I'm pretty happy with it. Both products are easy to apply and remove. You do have to let the wax product have time to dry, which usually takes more time than the 2-3 minutes stated on the label. The first time I used it I think I applied a heavier amount than is needed and it did take longer for it to dry. The second time I used just enough on the foam applicator to be able to tell the paint was wet and it dried much quicker.

The shine seems nice enough to me. Since we have had no rain in weeks I can't say much about water beading and durability. I find the wax very easy to apply and quick, since you don't have to slow down around plastic trim to avoid whiting it up. The fact that you can use it in the sun is a very big plus too! A MF towel takes it off very easy and leaves a streak free shine (a MF towel comes with it, BTW). I think I will keep using "Ice" at least until I can determine how durable it is, mainly because of how easy it is to use and how little product it takes to get a good result.

Frank, I don't think anyone here proposed Ice as a replacement for the likes of L-Glass.
There's just no way these products can last like a coat of real wax can.
They're meant for those times in between, or when you got a date, and no time

Have to use a product in the slot it fills - can't make it do something it's not capable of.

ScottB, point well taken. I thought the Ice Wax replacement was going to be something to compete with the real waxes, or the new synthetics which are supposed to be better than real waxes. At least that is how it was advertised in the store where I bought it. The other reason was because they offered a quick detailer as well, for in between.

It's not exactly cheap. I would rather use the L-Glass and a 5 minute detailer in between, based on my experiences. As I mentioned I will use the rest for the plastic/rubber parts because it does look good on them.

Only time will tell just how durable it really is. But its not beading up water very well after 2 weeks on my cars.

Frank. I think they DO market it as you said, I was posting on the reality from my use.
I wish it were that easy to replace the work of waxing, but alas, I don't believe it to be true.
OTOH, it might be OK - if I do that twice a month, instead of waxing every three, I might be better off in the long run?

I'm not sure yet. Still debating on going back to my old-skool wax and sweat routine

Well the Turtle Wax Ice was tried on two of my cars, 93 Aerostar Black, 95 Caprice White. Paint on both cars was in good shape, I do take care of them. I figured after posting I would give the product the benefit of the doubt. The Aerostar got 2 coats in fact. The shine was OK for a little while, the water on the roofs and hoods of both cars no longer beads water, that stopped in about 2 weeks.

I will burn up the rest of it on the black plastic/rubber parts of the cars, (it looks good on those parts). I won't use it on the paint anymore, I think someone else mentioned that.

I ended up washing the black Aerostar a few times with dish soap, and applying Liquid Glass. IMO the Liquid Glass is way better than the Turtle Wax Ice!
