Has anybody tried this ? it comes in a clear liquid plastic bottle . It goes on like oil on the truck . i used it this past weekend and after 15 mins it still didnt dry and then when i tried to wipe it off it was very streaky . It does make the truck look "wet" probably because it has this oil film over it. It has almost no cleaning ability , it just wipes on like oil.
i wouldnt recomend it.

Typicly products like these, I like to spray/squeeze the bottle of the product directly onto my drying towel while the towel is still damp. Wash your vehicle as normal. Dry your vehicle as normal. When your done drying your vehicle, wring out the drying towel really well and then fold the towel into a nice size pad that will fit in your hand comfortably. Spray/squeeze the ICE product directly onto the towel and then apply to the painted surface of your vehicle. Go over the whole vehicle as if you were drying it again and apply more ICE as needed. This process that I have created for myself not only reduces the streaking affects on paint, it also reduces the amount of product being used,(help the product spread more evenly), and creates less waste. Hope this has helped.

Char ... do you just leave it on and not try to wipe it off with a dry towel ? i'll try your technic for apptying ICE next time. Just wondering , any advantage of using your method of applying ICE over wax , like a sealer ?

A lot of those types of products make black paint look greasy because they are loaded with petroleum distillites. This is also why they won't last very long either.

ICE seems to work fine for me. I like the shine it gives to my cars, a black Accord and a Silver CR-V. Very easy to apply. Rain still beads after 2 months...

I've been using both the ICE wax and the spray detailer for about 3 months now. It sure works for me, very well. I've had no problems using it, but the first time I think I used too much in the application and it did not seem to dry very well. The next time I used it, I used just enough to be able to see some of it on the paint finish...did the whole car, and then came back to buff it down with the microfiber towel beginning where I had started.

I use a California Duster daily, and then use the detailing spray to get any "road dirt" stuck to the finish off between washings. The best part is how well it works on rubber/plastic trim, like the moldings and mirror housings without having to slow down to keep it off of them. ICE leaves a nice even shine on rubber/plastics that seems just as good and nice looking as the specialized trim products do. According the the FAQ on the Turtle Wax website, it should last 3 to 4 months. That is fine by me since it is so easy to use (not much more work than drying the car off twice--application and wiping) that I use ICE wax about once a month.

BlueBird,
It depends on the color/colour of your vehicle. Black, dark blues and forest greens can show streaks like "patman" said. I just apply the product like I stated above and leave it at that. But most of my vehicles are lighter and more forgiving paints. A good clean and dry micro-fiber towel/cloth will help absorb those streaks and leave a beautiful finish on those darker finishes but are not always needed. Many of these quick use products do have pertroleum distillites,[patman] but many have silicone wich I believe may streak even more. You may want to try wiping on and buffing off. Read the directions and use it as your baseline. Or, create your own tecnique and keep us posted on the results. Hope this has helped.

OH YEAH!
And as far as using these products as a sealer over wax...I don't really know but I would thing not. They're designed to be used between waxing. They help to keep the paint looking fresh, clean and just waxed. I like to use these products after each washing. I've stopped waxing my own vehicles these days and just use these quick use products and my vehicles look great all of the time. Years in fact.

The truck is dark red . I washed it already after the ICE was on and it does look better , some of the "stains" are gone. I have reconsidered putting ICE over wax . If the ICE is a polish and not a wax then putting a coat of Mothers Carnuba over the top should yeild good results. Anyway , thats what i plan on doing this weekend. The idea of using ICE between waxes is a idea , ICE does leave the dark red truck looking wet .
The Mothers might remove some of the ICE but either way ill post on monday with the verdict.

Im going to have to get some of this ICE. I love to try new products.

Stop on by. You can have my bottle. All I did was pour some on my hand.

Since it's Turtle Wax, I'd suspect this stuff is mostly silicone.

Sounds eerily similar to a product they came out with in the late 80s called "Clear Guard", which was a clear thick silicone polish. Same streaking on a dark color, and very little gloss improvement.

For spray detailers, I've found two that are fantastic. First and foremost is "One Touch" by Northwoods. www.northwoodstm.com
Second is "Magic Mist" by Auto Magic. www.automagic.com
I am currently using Magic Mist just because it's a little faster, and seems to really compliment my Auto Magic polish and sealant on my vehicle. It's got some silicone in it, but doesn't streak, even on a dark blue paint. Very easy to work with, and rewarding results. It even fills in swirls and light scratches.

I really dont like it - tried the spray detailer. I'll stick to normal wax, it works much better. So it takes me an hour to wax most of my car, big deal...

Blue,
Sounds like a plan!

Bret,
Thanks for the offer. Next time I visit my sister in Columbus,GA I'll look ya up. I'll just take a beer though!

Dom,
Waxing is good! Im just looking for the easy way out. My shoulders just arn't what they used to be. Too many torn rotor cuffs. Played a little baseball years ago. No more throwing arm!

Alrighty , i waxed the truck using Mothers over the ICE that was on the truck from the previous week. 2 things , none of Mothers wax got on any of the trim that was coated by the ICE . thats a good thing , There was some old paint removed from the truck so i guess the ICE was removed with it. but there were no swirl marks and the truck looks wet !

so i dont know what to conclued from ICE.

Next experiemnt would be to ICE over the Mothers between waxes and then i think ill just let it sit on the carnuba without rubbing to see how long it lasts and to see if removes any wax.

Blue,
I like this idea better. Although I have heard,(and only heard mind you), that one product over the top of the other either removes the product below or does not adhere properly. I wouldn't have any real way of knowing if this happens with different products. But, I like putting detail products over the wax myself if for nothing other than giving the paint that edge of extra gloss and the feeling of accomplishment. The products that I have tried and like very much are:

* FINAL INSPECTION
* MIST & WIPE
* QUICK DETAILER
* WAX-AS-U DRY
* DETAILER WAX ENHANCER
* AND SOON TO TRY "ICE"

Char , well the thing with the ICE wax is that it wipes on like oil , i mean no rubbing , no cleaning , nothing . It just goes on and stays there. If it 'dries' clear it would act like another layer of clear coat . I have never used any of the quick detailer products . Do they remove wax or put wax on ?

Blue,
I still have a small amount of "BLACK MAGIC BODY WET" that hasn't been produced in some time. It has the consistancy of a lite baby oil and is applied the same way that you mentioned. I use it the way that I mentioned earlier. I think that my way leaves a cleaner looking finish. I also have another product called "PENNZOIL TOTAL CARE" All-In-One. This product is also no longer made any more as it seems that they don't market these products well. Pennzoil Total Care could be uses on paint, vinal, rubber etc. I have one bottle left. I also found a product at Wal*Mart in the auto/motor home section that is used for recreational vehicles and actually works quite well on cars/trucks. Can't remember the name as I don't have any more but, I see it at Wallys all the time. It's a thick/rich/creamy texture so only a little is needed an spreads quite far.

The detailer products leave a micro layer of silicone over the wax/paint as they clean, remove water spotting, and leave a smooth finish. I don't really know if they remove wax but I don't think so! Those who have show cars like to use these products through out the car show so that their prize autos look their best at all times. I like to use these products after each washing or so. I sometimes skip a coat after washing as I have noticed that even these products can start to build-up. You'll notice too much build-up when the paint on your vehicle starts to look like it's smearing.
