Hey there, I have my own transportation company. I pay 70 cents per mile, but only the loaded miles and as I saw some say on here, I don't pay the portions of the road in which the drivers make stops or sleep. Still, it comes across as a nice sum nonetheless. A perk my company has is the ability to use the trucks and semis as their personal cars with the fuel paid by the company. Something like this is possible because I only hire professionals and experienced people that are serious about their work. I used this drivers recruitment software https://www.avatarfleet.com/ from the start of my company cause I didn't want to play around.

What percentage of the miles driven are loaded miles? It looks like you’re paying “book” miles or back in the day it was called “Rand McNally” miles. City limit to city limit in which a drivers pay stops when reaching the city limit in the delivering city plus the time at the customers dock making the delivery? If multiple stops in said city, the driver is “off the clock” as long as he/she stays inside the city limits? And when empty and heading home the driver is earning nothing! Your “perk” of allowing a driver to use the company truck as a personal vehicle is a way of saying, you can take the truck home with you and park it in your driveway so it’s protected! Wow....where do I apply?

As usual they are only considering the loaded miles, which is not really great actually. While 60 cents per mile... you know it is not the worst but also not the best kind of pay that you can get.

And you often have to load or unload the load for free. I unloaded 44000 lbs of frozen beef in 120 lb boxes, put them 6 high and labels out on a pallet for free. That was the last day I drove a reefer.

One of my friends her, 21 year old granddaughter got her CDL at 19 and started driving Flatbeds. She's now making good money driving Cement trunks. She started out at $25 an hour with the flatbeds and now she's making over $35 an hour full benefit package. All local driving and she's home every night and all the OT she wants.

One of my customers just retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was making over $100K a year in the last few years.

Truckers can make good $$$ if they run hard. 👍 🚛

Unfortunately some folks think it’s waaaay below them to drive a truck.

The entire global economy revolves around trucking.....

How many 21 year old women without a bachelors degree, other than strippers are making 70K a year?

Wonder where this is? Here they pay $12-$16 hr max and no benefits to drive a mixer.

Mixer drivers here were being hired at $25/hr to start on the radio ads here. My neighbor owns a concrete company and has nice looking mixers in good condition compared to some companies here. I’ll have to ask him what his drivers start at.

From 1979 to 1982 I was in between jobs driving as a casual driver out of the Teamsters local and I was clearing a $1000.00 per week. Yes there were long hours but when young you are invincible. I have always been blessed at having good paying jobs I admit I am far from being "smart"

You sir are asking the wrong question without telling us the location. I'd say almost everyone here make that because 70k won't make you a living.

Now of course many of them high paying ladies are in the tech industries, and there are a lot of them in engineering program these days.

The problem with a lot of jobs in high cost of living area, is that there are better paying jobs and your pay is not able to compete with the higher paying jobs. This of course is an international problem as well as a national problem, or even problem between counties of a state. This is why you cannot just compare things directly without factoring in all the details.

Example: we are paying almost $200 / hr for mechanics work in the area, and we still see a lot of independent mechanics closing their shops. In the end people just decided to run their cars till it starts to cost real repair and then just sell it (despite it being still mostly reliable), and buy another new one.
