Transmission shifting hard, what fluid to use?

You can go that route and get the same lame fluid that you have in there now that is shifting harshly (remember, after only how many miles?) For $3.67 a quart at Walmart you can get Maxlife ATF that is recommended for both DexIII applications or T-IV, And I would venture to say that it is better fluid than the overpriced oem Toyota fluid.

Let us know how it does for you.

I am not sure, it might be possible to buy a fluid that meets BOTH Dexron III AND T-IV specifications.
You can get Redline D4 delivered to your door for just a whisker over $9 a quart through OG Racing.

This is the fluid I am using in our Toyotas, it meets Dex III and T-IV as well. It will cost him a little more, but this is the ATF I would use if I was me :) Literally hundreds of stories on the web about how this fluid improved people's trannies. I know it made both of our Toyotas smoother. There are also hundreds of stories on the web about how lousy the T-IV fluid is.

That stuff is not that great. If your going to change it,I recommend Synthetic. (and reset your ecm after)

I have the Amsoil in mine right now,and all is well. My 2001 RX 300 trans.shifted the best on Castrol Multi Import Vehicle fluid. Second best was Wolf`s Head, then Mobil.

Does the transmission shift better when it is cold? Other Sienna owners have reported this.

If so, a slightly thicker fluid such as Castrol Import ATF should help improve the shifting.

What do you mean?
Go to ur nearest NAPA store and get a bottle of lubegard red for automatic trannys or the black bottle for restoring automatic tran fluid, its reccomended by OEMs or go to Lubegard.com

I recently started using Lubegard red in my wifes Acura MDX and the tranny shifts much better then it did. I have used red before in other vehicles and it does seem to help.

did 1 drain and fill today with oem toyo fluid. seems the same, it shifted better when cold than hot.

what exactly does lubegard red do? any side effects?

I didnt suffer any side affects using it. Its a compatable fluid to Toyota Junk.... I mean fluid.

It is a friction modifier, and contains alot of additives that do different jobs. But even if it doesn't help your situation, it won't hurt it. LG is NOT snake oil, it is a real product that works.
