What's the best synthetic Trans.fluid to use for an 04 Mazda6 5sp.auto? I have 7k miles on the car,and would like to do a drain and fill soon.

Oops, sorry, overlooked that one. Got my 4s, 5s, and 6s mixed up. What does your owner's manual call out?quote:

That TSB is for the 05 Mazda6 with the 6sp auto.I have the 04 with the 5sp auto.transmission.
Can I use Redline HI-Temp Syn.formula for now until I get the cooler in the near future? I have 7,100 miles on the car and will be doing the drain and fill method. Will it help as far as keeping the Temp.down? Thanks.quote:

Redline D4. Or any synthetic which specifies Mercon V compliance.
Do note that the 5spd jatco has serious overheating problems and desperately needs a auxilary transmission cooler installed. Recently owners with ATF temp gauges have been shocked in horror at some of the temps they've seen.
In 40F ambient, the transmission reached over 210F. Things are going to be blowing left and right past the warranty period without a cooler.
Here's an easy how-to install guide for adding a cooler!

You don't want to use the Redline hi-temp transmission fluid. It was a while ago but I recall a guy at Redline telling me that the hi-temp fluid wasn't recommended in a normally driven (or even weekend autocrossed) passenger vehicle. I'm pretty sure he said it was meant for race applications. Email Redline, tell them what you've got and what the manufacturer spec is for the transmission fluid and they'll tell you to use the D4.quote:

Sure, could be that too. That's why I said I didn't know if the fluid alone could make that change. Still, I did notice the change in shifts within a day or two of having the fluid change done. Who knowsquote:

Yea, that may be true but according to your friend, does that automatically mean they make inferior products? Why not have your friend come here and tell everyone the technical reasons why AMSOIL products are so bad.quote:
