After 5 years and over 216k miles on original engine and trans, I felt it was time to move on get something newer as it’s aging fast. Had a good connection with the Avalanche Z71 4x4, fixed and maintained everything on it and made it reliable, and it was (still is). I drove it coast to coast at least 4 times, halfway across the US and back another 4 times. It drove through record breaking heat, snow, hurricanes (Ida and Ian), some beginner mud holes, beach/sand, and a ton of stop and go city traffic (Los Angeles) And it handled it no problem. Miss it already

Traded it for a 2022 GMC Canyon AT4, low miles still under factory warranty.

Decided on mid size as I don’t need a 1500 and they are tank huge. Found this at a great price and it was the last year of the generation, also has the V6 vs the newer ones w the turbo 4 (nothing wrong w them). It’s smaller than the avalanche inside and out, but will do for my purpose (work and play). If they still made Avalanches, I would have bought one as i used the mid gate all the time.
Anyway, this mid truck runs good and looking forward to driving it across the country etc

I miss my avalanche also.

What oil in the new truck?

I didn't trade my 05 yukon because the dealer wasn't giving much for it in late 2020. Still rock solid today. I'm assuming the dealer did give a decent amount.

5ft bed
216k total avalanche miles, I put 70k on it myself
Canyon has 25k miles
Gonna use 5 or 10w30, whatever brand Im feeling at the time of the oil change as I like to switch it up sometimes, but gonna stay at 5k OCI
The dealer couldn’t give me more that $1k for the avalanche because of the mileage, cracked windshield, check engine light on, and I had some modifications on it, but he made it up on the price of the Canyon to where I was ok with it.

How long is the bed on your Canyon?
Just stretch out your left arm... that long. 😂

Those Avalanches just never got me going but I'm happy to hear that you used an older vehicle for 5 years a lot of miles. That Canyon looks just fine. What is the displacement of that V6? I don't keep track of the latest stuff that much. Plan to keep it around a while?

I must say this about the Avalanches I've seen....the weird A behind the cab was deeply soiled in every example I saw.
They were not popular at all in my neck of the woods.
And that "GM car show retractable cover"....please.
I'm also in the crowd which was happy to see the Ridgeline clean up its lines.

Gosh for gosh sake...in trucks?

Should be a 3.6L

1k for a running 4x4 crew cab is criminal. 5k would be my bottom dollar for something clean.
the wholesaler gave the dealer at least 1.5k, I would bet 2k.

I would use 5w30 dexos approved oil that's what it calls for

BiL/sister just got a new Buick Enclave with the 3.6L … nice unit!
Wonder if it's the same family lineup that started in the Cadillac CTS? Obviously some changes have been made over the last 20+ years if that is the case. lol
