Tracking down my passenger rear wobble....

As the title states I've had a rear end wobble that also occurs during braking, however I can go entire trips with no wobble/shake and other times the first time I go to stop the passenger rear shakes the whole car.

Wednesday I removed the passenger rear hub for inspection and found no problems, so I grabbed my Dremel and a sanding wheel and knocked the rust and corrosion off of the spindle. I then reassembled the hub and cross tightened the 4 bolts while torquing to 55 lb ft. (2004 Grand Prix specs)

Yesterday I demanded an alignment be done after realizing I was give no alignment print out when they installed the Pirellis. They agreed to check and it turns out all 4 corners were toe out, they also swore up and down that all suspension and steering components checked out. Last night the wobble continued to come and go.

Today I jack the car up, disassemble and put it all back together using blue loctite on everything except the caliper pin bolts. Got ready to install the wheel and decide to inspect the suspension. The adjustable track rod on the pass rear looks damaged.

I put the wheel back on, laid behind it and spun it by hand. If you look at the top of the tire where the tread and sidewall meet you can see a slight side to side wobble. Appears to be a shifted belt and the inner most tread blocks appear to be feathered.

Does anything see these two issues causing my shake and wobble?

Gotta' rule out a bent wheel while you get your new tires balanced up. At high miles, wheels are often bent, too, and contribute to wobbles.

Plus if the tires are used then that's why the previous owner could have dumped them. The tread looked good to someone who re-sold them.

These are the original valera touring. I'm going to replace them with pirellis, just curious as to if that ding near the track rod bushing could cause vibration.

The owner of the used tire place told me the primewells had feathering but that was the driver rear. After a few thousand miles the shaking at high speed went away due to then wearing normally once again.

now the passenger rear is feathered most likely due to the alignment issue.

My upstairs neighbor had a set of Primewells on his Civic SI, he complained about a shimmy through the car that went away when he replaced them with a set of Toyo Extensa HPs. The car isn't well maintained so take that into consideration. When I checked the tires they seemed fine. A few months later he told me they were all losing air, and had to get the Toyos.

Years ago my parents had a pathfinder with a highway wobble that would sway the rear of the car from side to side on the highway at certain speeds. Trusted shop replaced tires and shocks and perhaps a few other things too, no change. I remember talking to a local suspension shop that I found and he recommended replacing the rubber bushings which my parents did. That fixed the problem. Perhaps something to look at.

The bushings all look to be in good shape, the exception being the front. Sway bar end link bushings are starting to crack.

Good part is if it is the track rod bushing, it's included with a new track rod. Under $30..... I should know, Got buzzed off some crown one day and decided to rotate tires, ended up bending the track rod trying to raise the car.
