The worse possible location !!!

Naw... the worst possible location would be up on the rear shelf by the back window and viewing would be via the center rear view mirror.

No wait... the worst possible location would be inside the glove box.

Exactly....apples to apples please...the Chevy Aveo is scary cheap.

I cannot even drive a Yaris I have long legs and my knee's hit the dash and steering wheel. IN fact because of the lack of tilt wheel and the way the door opening and seat are postioned I can barley get into one. On the other hand the Matrix which is not much bigger up front is a piece of cake because of hos the door opening, seat are designed and the tilty and teloscopic steering. I used to laugh at like 5 foor 2 inch male car salesman that would try to put a 6 foot 8 inch man in a Yaris!!! I am liek are you crazy that guy will not even be able to get out of the car under his own power put him a Camry,Matrix or Carolla and at least he will be able to get into and out of those under his own power!

The Yaris had the cheapest interior I had ever scene in a Toyota to date in fact it reminded me of an Early Caviler or Dodge Neon as to the nasty feel of the all the plastic. It just screamed cheap!Oh and believe it or not the Yaris's we had on the lot all came with crank windows. Now I like crank windows but I had not seen them on anything modern in years!!!!!!!

I love cheap guys who cry about a $15,000 car.
I like the dash in the middle, and it doesn't have that gay red glow of most other displays.
If you read actual owner reviews, they are quite good.
I drive the sedan, not the kids version.
I never get below 35 mpg,and I drive it like a race car.
It handles triple digit speeds well.
Try that with your festiva.

It's an economy car-basic transportation.
I'm 6"3 and the interior is comfortable with some head room.
If you need something bigger,Get the scion XB for the same price.

Wow, that's really impresssive. Do you have any crash pics to share, so we know for sure how well it, and what's left of the driver inside, can handle triple-digit speeds?

I looked at one once, but we didn't bother driving it because the interior seemed so cheap and we had already been disappointed by the Camry and Matrix test drives. We figured they probably weren't going to get any better as the price went down!

We drove the Versa and Fit and they seemed pretty good.

The Hyundai Accent is much more of a car than the Yaris, and I am sure can be had for much less!

If you are a smart shopper, you could probably find a stripped Cobalt for the same price as a stripped Yaris.

Obviously, you never driven one (accent)on the stretch of highway with sidewinds blowing and the mediocre suspension (poorly tuned to be too "soft" and requires lots of correction) would just keep blowing you off the road even when I was doing 65mph.

What's more? Hate that engine buzz and it's trunk lid (and you think Yaris/Fit door panel is thin enough, try it's truck on a 4-dr 09 model).... AS much as I would like to give Hyundai high praise for their line of mid/high end products such as Sonata or Genesis (luv it), Accent is nothing short of a joke but cheep no matter how "open mind" I try to tell myself when I drove one of those.

compared to Yaris (I driven/raced in one before) or a Fit (I own one currently), they both handle much, much better than an Accent, period.

Festiva was a thing of the past which actually requires some serious suspension revamp in order to get it to track properly.

Q.

I'm not cheap...

...I'm thrifty

By Gay do you mean Happy? Cuz otherwise them can be fightin' words LOL...

Hey to each his own, I guess I have never experienced a chincy Toyota product.. and I was surprised that they would put their log on that when for a little more they could have increased the quality.

I haven't driven a smart car are they chincy?

I drove a Mini, I know its a way different class of economy, that felt like a race car that was shrunk. I would rather buy a used mini than a Yaris brand new. $ for $ the mini w 100K on the clock is better than a new Yaris.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why someone would decide to buy one of these... to each their own... as long as you can fit a few bags of groceries and a couple cases of beer life is good, right. Kum-Bye-Ahh!

My in-laws have a 2000 Echo, and from reading some reviews, Yaris is not much different, the only attributes this car has are reliability and very good fuel economy, that's it. The interior is a rattle trap in the full meaning of the word, really noisy, terrible for long trips and for such a small car it handles like a mull.

Fit and versa are much better, and with Ford Fiesta coming soon this car it totally outclassed by the competition.

I rent all the bottom of the line cars every week in my job. They are what they are, transportation. You can't look a them for ergonomics, dynamics, or anything else. They are meant to do one thing, get you from point A to point B. They don't have to do it well, they just have to do it. While it isn't my favorite car, I'll give the Yaris one thing, even with an A/T and AC blasting, it gets 40 MPG. The Aveo and Accent are in the same league.

I'd take his post with a grain of salt.. big difference in Fiesta and Festiva . Funny how people can't get it straight after all these years. Both good cars though. It's funny my car that's 18 years old still has all the lettering on the stalks etc but my grandparents Yaris and past Pruis has already rubbed off. They haven't had their new Pruis that long. Didn't notice any rattles in either though but they live in a small town.. compared to the KC even the gravel roads are smoother.

I cannot understand why anyone would buy a low end car brand new when they can get one or two notches up (Corolla/Camry) used slightly for a similar price.

Corolla and Camry were designed for the US market. Yaris is a world car.

A brand new Corolla/Fit/Civic is not "a few knotches above a Yaris"....I've driven all these and they are just at most a half notch above....and these cost thousands more then a Yaris yet are just a few hundred $$ better....so I don't understand why anyone would pay a few thousand more for a car that is a tiny bit bigger and drives a tiny bit getter and gets worse gas milage over a Yaris....

The Yaris is best in class, and providing the lowest cost of ownership of ANY car sold in America new.

It has a bullet proof 1.5L engine that has gone 300,000 miles often, and as evident by many on several forums.

Someone mentioned "rattles". This is a lie because there is nothing in the interior to rattle...everything is plastic, cloth, or felt, so what is there to rattle? Nothing.

The center console is ingenious and makes for a great driving experience.

Mine is a 2007 hatchback, and it gets 46 MPG on the highway, besting EPA. It has 76,000 miles, zero problems, and it runs like new. The interior still looks like new, no damage, no marks, rips, etc. It has power mirrors, CD, power windows, and it was just $12,800 out the door new.

Someone said the Yaris is very stable at 3 digit speeds. This is profoundly untrue times 100. At 75 or under it handles fine however.

I find it foolish when someone that wants a get-to-work economy car would rather buy a used Civic, Corolla or other, when for the same $$ one can have a brand new Yaris, which has MORE DRIVER SIDE ROOM then the latest Corolla, and one can haul more stuff in the Yaris HB then a 4 door brand new Corolla.

The ride of the Yaris is perhaps 98% the same as a Corolla, so why would anyone buy a new or used Corolla/Civic over a new Yaris is beyound me...only those that never drove a Yaris would do such a thing.

You want to save money on cost of ownership? Gas? Want a hugely dependable car? Want a car that drives very well, and will drive like new at 200,000 miles? Get a brand new Yaris....$12,800 OTD cannot be beat...

It's the plastic parts that touch each other that rattle.

Well I got my 4 door Camry LE with cloths seats, CD,AC power seats, power windows, 5 spd manual etc......FOr $17,000.00 back in 2003 and they took my Dodge Dakota which I owed $16K on in trade. So $15,000 for a Versa isin my mind a rip up compared to my Camry at $17

XCELERATIONRULES I would almost be willing to call you a bold face liar but I refrain from that because I do not know if their has been a Yaris redesign since I last sat in one. I am only 6 foot 1 and I did not have able head room and trust me I was not wearing a stetson! You would have to be a genetic freak and all of your hieth would have to be in your toroso because the seat does not go back far enough to clear my legs fromthe Dash and steering wheel. I have to admit though all the Yaris's we had on the lot at the time where two door hatchmodels not the sedan model. I have a hard time calling that little thing a Sedan model it so tiny. In fact I think my boss got digital photo's of me inthe front seat of a Yaris and the back seat of the Scion Xa because it looks like Aundre the Giant was in a little kids electrick car.

if you want a 12k dollar car, just buy a better used car.............. don't buy a piece of junk like a yaris/echo/Scion Xa Xb

[censored] those cars are cheap, I like the new Camry, and I just can't believe the same company that makes the Camry makes the yaris and Scion models....... its a night and day difference. I'm not talking about luxuries, or even the running gear, I'm talking about the quality of the materials used to build the car....
