Toy r us in bankruptcy

OK. Thanks for all of that. The thread is about to be locked due to political narrative. Toys R Us is ultimately doomed; as is Sears, JC Penney, and Best Buy. That's not politics.

And, thanks for this grammatical gem...

"then Your living in a socialist state."

I don't know if all the information is 100% correct, but this guy does some pretty interesting videos about lots of different companies.

Their is one major fact everyone missed....the toy industry is dying....fast!!

Our local Walmarts/Targets have cut over half the toy sections in their stores.

We are training kids with tablets/computers and soon as they can hold them, and never look back. Everything has to be tech, tech, tech!

We have a five year old neighbor who has never played with legos, any type of action figure, and even stuffed animals! But he has all the latest tablets and apps, and knows how to use his parents phone......

It's kinda scary....

I'm just glad my son still finds joy in legos, other stuff and my old toys....

I think this is a big part of it.

When I was younger I played with trains, R/C cars, legos, matchbox cars, all that stuff. I moved on to video games on rainy days and bikes/ATVs outside when I was a teenager.

My friend has two kids, one is 5 the other is 3. Both of them play on the ipad and hardly ever go outside or play with toys.

When is Orchards Supply Hardware going to go bankrupt ?

Customers are non-existent at anytime of the day. Parking lot always empty.

I remember a chain called Service Merchandise that did pretty much that. They had a huge display case, and every item had a number. You filled out an order form, and they brought it out at a pickup window. They were mainly in the South. I think there was a similar one on the East Coast.

We had similar up here. They were Consumers Distributing and Shoprite stores.
I remember Consumers Distributing stores, been many years since they were in business up here.

They did the right thing by converting half of the store space as Babies R Us. Diapers and baby formula never run out of businesses.

The problem is TRU has an attitude that customers are trying to screw them and they would rather alienate the customers than to earn their businesses. Why would people go to TRU to be screwed for the same price as Walmart, Target, or Amazon?

This is what happens when disposable income has been on the decline since the 1970's due to wages not keeping up with the times.

The spending on kids entertainment has increased, just not going into TRU's pocket. The toys section of Walmart and Target are still big, online toy sales are still strong, and video games sales have grown exponentially.

Talking about video game sales, like video streaming they are going the direction of online store and download, instead of physical disc that you buy from the store.

What I meant was people looking for the cheapest price because they can no longer afford over priced retail which is what Toys-R-Us was.

Lots of busy parents only go grocery shopping for fresh meats and veggies.

Everything else can be ordered online and shipped to their house with zero stress and aggravation dealing with retail idiots.

All the above said has Toys r us changed anything drastic? They will die off slowly unless they reinvent themselves to be more relevant to 2017+.

Yeah, like there's zero stress in buying groceries and other household staples online.
When we were busy parents with kids at home years ago, shopping was no big deal and it isn't these days either.
I spent then and spend now no more time finding the deals at the grocery that don't show up online than I would shopping online for pickup or delivery plus I make my own schedule, not possible with either pickup or delivery of perishable products.
Meanwhile, Amazon remains a trailer park favorite.

Like the $0.75 Fram TG’s I grabbed today … And I’m thinking shopping is the only exercise some folks get these days …
