The Porsche A40 video of that testing standard is a real deal torture test...

the a5 spec is for long intervals right?

Off the top of my head, M1 5W30 is about 10% Noack loss, 4000 cP CCS viscosity at -30C, and 10 TBN from a handful of analyses over the last several years (XOM doesn't share all these numbers).
Its composition didn't seem to change with d1G2 and I can get it on rebate for maybe $13...I have used a lot of this stuff.

For more money, Ravenol DXG 5W30 is 6% Noack loss, 3990 cP CCS viscosity at -30C, and 256C flashpoint. I ordered a jug of this but it was not the d1G2 stuff that I ordered, so I got a zero hassle return from the seller.
Amsoil SS 5W30 is 6.7% Noack loss, 12.5 TBN, and 3968 cP CCS viscosity at -30C.
Of course, we're talking ~$50/jug or more for these (would have to be a gallon plus a quart for the Amsoil).

*What about VW specs ?

Full SAPS and thick, an oil that carries all of A3/B4, MB 229.5, BMW LL-01 and Porsche A40

Mid-SAPS and thick, an oil that carries C3, MB 229.51, BMW LL-04 and Dexos2 (any two out of the three OEM specs will do)

Low-SAPS and thick, VW 504/507 which is the same as Porsche C30

LSPI friendly and thin, SN-Plus and Dexos1-Gen2

High-SAPS and thin, A5/B5 and Ford 913-D

You approached this from a similar yet different angle my friend

Always very good to see you on here.

In the hierarchy you laid out I would have the VW 504/07 and Porsche C30 in the very toughest specs to hit. Along with Porsche A40 and BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5.

And SR5 really did a very good job adding the VW specs...

Candidly I don't quite know them off the top of my head as well as the others.
