i can't believe i'm saying this, but i just bought Fram for the Vibe...

after all the OCOD dislike i've perpetrated afk, I actually bought a Fram....

already have a Wix ready to go in, but what kind of mileage are they rated for?

last oil change took us 9 mos for the owner and i to get our schedules to sync up. in which time he put 6-7k mi on with a torn P1.

so i bit the bullet and bought a Fram Ultra. ($8.99, -$2MIR=$6)
that way if this winter gets bad, and it takes another 9 mos or so, i can rest a little better. Have PP 5w30 standing by to go in.
save the wix for next year's summer run, w/ GTX.

The Fram Ultra is a far cry from the orange can. IMO, the Ultra is top notch in performance, construction and cost.

Nothing wrong with using a Fram Ultra for that long. Fram say they're good for 15k miles. Easily worth the $7 you paid for it.

I'm confident enough in Wix that I have one ready go on my car and my OCI is about 5-7k miles.

I previously used P1 filters with that OCI, but now with the torn media issue going on, I'm going to use Wix until it gets resolved.

If i could be sure he wouldn't go over 5k mi, I wouldn't have batted an eye with the wix. but, i'm changing it either this weekend, or at the end of august, and that will be in till the spring...

I saw your thread title and thought that you had shopped Walmart.
Fram is not the evil empire it's made out to be.
I used orange cans for many years with no problems.
I bought a bunch for twenty five to thirty cents each on clearance from Lowes recently for five applications.
Frams aren't notorious for torn media, and I've also seen a few seeping base gaskets with Brand P, which I never saw with any Fram.
I've got two Ultras for the '12 Accord, bought from Meijer, of course.

My sentiments exactly. I'm still using my stash of P1's but under the latest scare I went for the Ultra as well for Camry in my Sig. That car is hitting 20yrs so I don't stash up!

shh... That's where i get my Motorcraft Filters...shhh!

(keep that on the DL guys, they're my employer's competition)

The last MC I bought was from AZ last September.
Only $3.69.
Walmart can't be any cheaper than that.

Why would using an Ultra for 9 months 6-7k miles be going to the "dark side"? Rated to 15k mi. with completely different construction than other Fram offerings. Not seeing any dark side to it.

Simply b/c I've been a die hard fram basher, and I bought a fram.
Apparently my lame attempt at humor was too lame....

Walmart perhaps not, but AAP can. I bought 15 of them for $2.30 each with a code.

If you find small stuff at a decent price, AAP coupon codes are a great way to stock up.
