I am just sick and sorry for Helen in this. She is a strong” in #@$%!, Lady” and will do fine but this is a tough loss ! Praise #@$%!, he is not suffering any longer.

Both Tony and I had tribology and interest in lubes etc in common.

However many of you did not know that He and I also did the same Airborne Sensor Operators job in the Navy, he being about 15 years my senior and doing it for 30 years while I spent 4.

Tony was one of the original “Leap Frogs” Navy Parachute Demo team Jumpers in the late 50’s and early 60’s, I was a Navy Rescue Swimmer and later Flew for the Army Golden Knights, so we had so much in common in this “on the edge” type military backgrounds !

When I visited the Rieks last year for a few days He and I would talk for hours comparing stories, it was great fun! He drove his PSD trucks like he stole them! What a wonderfully warm friendship I felt for him. The epitome of what a Master Chief Petty Officer was supposed to be!!

He was a rock of a Man and I was sharpened as a Man by being his friend.

I am deeply saddened to hear this, Tony and I have a few conversations about our trucks. He will be missed, his family is in our prayers.

ye mates,
For many years, this Sailor stood the watch ...
While some of us lay about our bunks at night,
This Sailor stood the watch.

While others of us were attending schools,
This Sailor stood the watch.

And yes, even before many of us were born,
This Sailor stood the watch.

As our families watched the storm clouds of war,
brewing on the horizons of history,
He stood the watch.

This Sailor looked ashore and saw his family ...
Often needing his guidance but he knew he must stay,
Because he had the watch.

For many years he has stood the watch,
So that we and our countrymen could sleep soundly, in safety,
knowing that a Sailor would stand the watch.

Today, we are here to say "Shipmate, the watch stands relieved.
Relieved by those you have led, trained and guided.
Shipmate, you now stand relieved, We have the watch."

Bos'n, standby to pipe to side, shipmate going ashore.

Godspeed my friend.

This is truley sad news. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Tony in person we shared a few good PM's and he has always been a very level headed forum Hosts. My prayers and best wishes to Tony's family and loved ones. He has gone on to a better place with #@$%!. We have lost a very good man.

I'm saddened to hear of our dear friend's passing ..but I rejoice at the ending of his suffering. I hope is transition was a peaceful one. May we all touch as many souls before the end of our mortal journey.

Farewell, dear friend.

Tony has served as a good friend and mentor to me over the years that I have been on this forum. He did ban me briefly last year and I was glad that I was able to learn from that experience. I wished that I was able to thank him for setting me straight and giving me the second chance of coming back.

He'll be missed, and may he rest in peace.

My heartfelt wishes of sympathy to his family on the loss of Tony.

I always liked the direct, honest approach he used in administering at Bitog and the way he joined in the posts as just one of "the guys" when a topic came up that interested him.

He will be missed...
