My 2000 Saturn SL2 previously had 2 Goodyear Integrity + 2 Futura 2000 LTE's on it, both sets with only 18,000 miles on them, so that will be the comparison, along with how my other Saturn drove as well.

Those tires ran very quiet, but were terrible in the rain. To the point I had to be careful on the curves.

Now on to the Michelin Integrity. I ran these for 1 week and about 300 miles to gather information in many conditions.

Normal Driving Stability: These tires give a strong & firm "placement feel" at all speeds. Much better than the previous tires. Grade = "A".

High Wind Stability: The Destiny's drove straighter down the road and I noticed I had to correct less with the steering wheel to keep it in the center of the road. Grade = "A".

Heavy Rain Performance: This is where the Destiny's performed their best! Fantastic grip, NO "drifting" or breaking loose in the back end. These tires gave a high level of confidence confidence with extreme wet traction and stability. They also stayed straight in thos puddles that usually veer a car off to one side; not on these tires. Grade = "A+"

Road Noise: This is the one disappointment; they are moderately louder than what I thought they would be going down the road. But if this is the trade-off for all the benefits of the Destiny's, well, I'll take it. Grade = "B".

Conclusion:

Overall, these are great tires and well worth the $100 per tire price, with a $70 Visa Card rebate. This is my 2nd Saturn and I did not know it could be this stable going down the road, in all the conditions listed above.

If you're going to drive in windless, dry, basic driving, you probably don't need to go to this level. But if you drive in wind, rain, seek stability in these conditions and don't mind a little extra noise, well these are the tires for you.

Sounds good. I have found that Michelins normally are not the quietest or best-riding tires out there, contrary to the billing they sometimes get. But what you do get in a Michelin is a tire with very few sore spots. They're rarely THE best in any one particular metric, but are often 8 or 9 out of 10 in anything you could try to measure.

I cant complain about the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S I put on my 318i last year. My comments would mirror yours almost exactly.

Give the Michelin time to quiet down. When I installed my G/Y Assurance Comfort Treads(ACT's) from the previous Integrity's(a very quiet/comfortable tire itself), I was a bit disappointed too with the ACT's quiet/ride comfort. Not that they were loud/harsh, just not a quiet/comfortable as the Integrity's. Several weeks later, the ACT's came into their own in terms of quiet and ride comfort. I just didn't feel it right away.

And as other members will tell'ya, Michelin tires aren't the quietest nor best riding tire in their segment. They offer a very nice balance of all things done well.

I have over 8,000 miles on my new Michelin Destiny tires. Application is a 2006 Toyota Sienna, and size 215/65R16. I would pretty much echo what tpitcher says of them.

I find the driving stability and steering feel to be the most precise of any tire that was on this van, and the worst in this regard were the OEM Michelin Energy LX4, which I found felt imprecise compared to the two different winter tire sets I've had. With the Destiny, the feel is as crisp, clean and firm as you could expect out of a van.

I can't say I've ever put down wind stability to the tires on the vehicle.

I had the opportunity to drive with the Destiny through some real torrential downpours, and not the slightest hint of impending hydroplaning. Excellent tires in this regard.

Braking feels very assured, and though I've never actually measured, I wouldn't be surprised the best stopping distances are with these tires on this vehicle.

Noise is one area they are a little weak. A bit noisier, I'd say possibly even slightly noisier than my winter General Altimax Arctics, but not enough to make me not recommend the tires.

I would definitely buy them all over again. Of course, they are pretty much no longer available now, havig been replaced by the Defender / Defender XT. Not that what I've heard about the Defenders was bad, but glad I got their older model before it was gone over the Defender.

The SL & SC were very stable and well planted little cars - except when passing through the turbulance of large trucks - and except when wearing "Old Lady's Tires" like the Integrity's...

S-series sedands had longer wheelbases than other compacts & subcompacts, and the DOHC versions have a rear swaybar, so while lacking refinement they can feel quite secure and surefooted with competent tires even if the stock size is a bit to tall to show the car in it's best light. (I'd have gone with something in 195/55/15 )

Anyway I hope you continue to enjoy it with Michelins. Tires can really change the the driving experience of car.

Well, I guess not even Michelin can get the whole package perfect in terms of quietness in all of their tires. It's good to see that you're happy with your choice.

Michelin tires sure do many thing quite well though, I must admit! And that's why folks pay so much more for them compared to other brands. Michelin's just do more things well for the everyman. I know, I know! Not every Michelin is held in top regard by all. I can't argue the ratings though!

I don't buy Michelin tires as I have too many cars that need tires and Michelin has outpriced them selves for me. I do buy tires by their good ratings and have done very well, I'm happy to say! I have had Michelin tires on vehicles that came with'em and I liked'em! Just never purchaced'em after market.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody!!

I sure do like 'em. Can't wait for the snow to try them out. Oh I guess I can wait for the snow...

Good question... It looks to be slightly more on these 2 similar comparisons:

- I immediately noticed less rolling resistance when letting off the gas; the car rolls longer for sure.

- I did get 40MPG with 2 people on the freeway last week with the SL2 and it was about 38MPG with 2 people & the old tires.

Well, that a good sign already!

Especially since every new tire I bought got lower MPG from the start, only to get better as they rolled on to what I'd call "BACK TO NORMAL MPG" for my vehicles in a few thousand miles.

well since the new tires are bigger if you got 38mpg with old and 38mpg with new.. I'd say thats a win..

new tires you are going farther per revolution vs old tires.

This can be as much as 1-3% depending on tire and size.

also with tread squirm and breakin.. its only going to get better. You could also try adding 2-4 psi and seeing if you like it. It should also return slightly better mpg and handling.

Personally I havent found a tire I've liked at 30psi
I usually end up running 32-34psi

Get this.....

I was driving down a country road and heard a "BANG!" Back tire blew out!

I changed it, went to DT, they showed me it was someone's small piece of coil spring that broke and it dug right in one of the 3 wide spots.

DT replaced it for free, not one penny!

I've got the same tires on my cars. They're good tires. My Buick has 205/70/15 @ 30 PSI and my PT Cruiser has 205/55/16 @ 35 PSI. They have a smooth quiet ride and excellent handling.

wow, nice experience.

Is that because of road hazard warranty, yet I'd figure a pro-rated pay off?

Early this year I had Destiny tires put on my youngest kids car and he really likes them.
Previous was GY TripleTred (good wet traction - directional, felt a little weird tracking highway, little noisy, wore fast).
Before GY was Big-O (Legacy I think).

He like everything better about the Destiny but hasn't had much wet road driving with them. Smooth & quite compared to previous tires. So far so happy - also got them at DT like I did the other vehicles.

Naw, they didn't say which, just did it and I went on my way. I guess not much blow out these tires, but this coil spring sure did it.

It really "clanked" LOUDLY against the rim every revolution!!

I've got Destiny's on my 2002 SL2 saturn. Right now I have 50K on the tires and will easily get 100+K. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they went close to 200K. They wear like iron and I really like that.

Had 'em on my Accord for about 29 days. Went back to DT had 'em replaced with GYAC tourings. The Destinys were rough riding and noisey. Pay your money and take your choice.
