I am just wondering when is a good time to bring my car to honda for the timing belt, water pump change... honda says 90,000 and it costs 550 from the dealter.. I use mobil one and change the oil every 5 thousand or so miles. I regularaly shift past 6 grand and drive it fast.

I think 90,000 soundsa bout right. Spark plugs probably replace every 60k or so, PCV valve probably every 100k or sooner if you have severe oil burning problems- that might be causing it.

Yea, my 06 civic has the timing chain, thank goodness most of the cars have gotten away from the timing belt, what a pain. Plugs are good till 100,000. A buddy of mine got 115,000 on his set of plugs. Yea, the 8th Gen has the chain, so you're good to go.

Cpayne is right. That year uses a timing chain instead of a belt. In that case, I doubt you need to replace it. Go ahead and replace the PVC valve though, it may help with oil burning. If not, switch to Castrol GTX or Pennzoil Platinum, they may help with the oil burning. If you have 60k miles or more, replace the spark plugs.

im using mobil 1 till the day the car dies....it runs so much better than when i used gtx..it warms up quicker and runs quiter and revs faster.. it only burns because of how hard i drive it.
