My 06 Jeep(Hemi)has 70,800 on her and when I removed the throttle body I was amazed at how much dirt was on the rear side.I cleaned the throttle body with brake cleaner and installed a new PCV valve. The Hemi uses a plastic I believe manifold and I don't like unscrewing anything with that type of material. Is there and way to keep the throttle body(both sides)clean with removing the entire unit? Thanks Joe

I don't think using brake cleaner is a good idea. There is a spray made specifically for use in intakes and throttle bodies.

The deal is the coating on the TB surface. The cleaner should be coating safe. It's not critical on all of them but may be an issue after multiple use or overly aggressive cleaner

I use brake cleaner on my saturn valve covers, that are made of plastic, and no issues. You could always use ordinary gasoline, the IM has to take it!

Brake cleaner is okay with a very select few plastics. Others it will turn to dust.

Carb cleaner seems like a good idea for this application.

Remove the TB and take the IAC and TPS off and clean away, Amsoil Power Foam works the best on TB's.

There is suposedly an anti foul coating on many TBs , and they say don't use solvent s to clean them.
IMO, this coating is less then worthless. Clean it with strong solvent. But DON'T just spray it clean. Use a rag and manually clean it.
A catch can will attenuate the problem greatly.
Google it for many cheap ideas.
I use one - it works well to keep the TB, manifold, and valve clean.
Also less crud to go in the combustion chamber.

This looks interesting. It has a hose to reach down onto the plenum or manifold.I think it would be prudent to pull the plugs first.I'm thinking a pre tune up cleaning.

Good way to clean, Throttle body cleaner, hold TP open and spray back side of throttle plate and the bore lightly. Then here is the good part, use an old toothbrush for the scrubbing, spray lightly again and wipe down with a rag, works very well. The plus side is that you don't have to remove the throttle body.
