Three Consecutive Rotella T UOAs

Hello People,
I am new to this page so please be patient with me. I know there has been a lot of talk about oils and filters and they are a very subjective topic. I have a 2004 Yamaha Road Star and am not very mechanically inclined, but I have started to do some of the work on my own with the help of a friend who is more knowledgeable. Anyway, I had been using the castrol gtx 20w-50 only to learn castrol has a motorcycle 4t oil. Then I read on a forum, forget which one - sorry - that castrol is not that good. I had thought castrol was a good oil. I have been reading and hearing a lot about the rotella 15w40 oil. Has anybody done or heard of a UOA comparison done between castrol and rotella? I change my oil and filter every 4,00 per the manual. Would I be better served with the castrol or the rotella? Also, any input dealing with the ST 7317 filter would also help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a good day.

Do a UOA if you're worried about the Castrol. I'm guessing there will be no problems at all.

Rotella's also a fine choice.

Are you looking for options on the 7317 filter? If so, a WIX 51356/NAPA 1356, Purolator L14610 or Mobil 1 M1-110 will work.

Yup..you should be just fine with the Castrol....I've been using Rotella 15W40 in my Bandit 1250 for almost a year now with no issues and very smooth operation...I change it out at about 2,500 as the shifting gets a tad notchy around then...Upon draining it appears to have very little viscosity loss but that would only be proven with an actual test.

O.K. Maybe you all can help me I'm not sure what oil to use in my suzuki gs 500 Air cooled. I'm 50-50 between the Rotella T
5-40 syn. and the 15-40 from the research on this site it seems it's a toss up, I live in a cooler aera MN so I'm thinking 5-40 any help would be great.
