Looks like retailers here in canada won't be stocking M1 15w-50 any more. All they're stocking is the 5w-50 variety, which they say is the recommended replacement for the 15w-50.

Anybody have any thoughts about how this 5w-50 will stack up against the old red-cap 15w-50 in a motorcycle application?

Most likely more additives but in a wet clutch application probably will have more modifiers that could cause problems.

I've been running some castrol syntec 5w-50 for about 200 miles now with no clutch slip issues whatsoever.

Seeing the 5-50w spread it might shear down quickly in wet clutch applications. Not really sure but its something to think about.
