Those ferocious Pomeranians strike again.

All dogs think they are the same size. It's like they don't have the concept of a tape measure nor weight scale. It's like they act before thinking.

We went to our friends house with our beagle; they had a younger and larger dog. A very short turf war ensued, and our dog go put into her place (rightfully so). It was wild to watch them afterwards: the larger dog was unfazed, our dog laid under a chair and refused to look at the other dog. "I can't see you" sort of response.

No they know size. Our dog ignores smaller dogs but is ready for any bigger ones.

I think there's a lot of truth to that. We have a small Jack Russell mix that I was walking one time alongside our Belgian Malinois, and up came 2 huskies. They mingled with my Malinois, they all sniffed each other out. My Jack Russell lunged for the huskies, they stepped back, but stayed focused on the possible threat--the Malinois. They ignored the Jack Russell.
