Why?
Because I'm looking for some posts about Redline 5W-20 in the PMCO forum.
So I search for: Redline.
What do I get: a lot of Re: Redline 0W30, almost a full page of it, the other 7 pages look the same, replies, replies.
Next search: Redline -(minus)Re
What do I get.. see above.

Somebody fix this.
Pleeeeeeeease.

i agree, the BITOG search engine is almost worthless. The trick is too use google and put bitog after what you want.

To make the search engine work better be sure to used the advanced search and make sure you change the date range to newer than 5 years otherwise you are just searching the past month's posts.

I remember the much better older search on BITOG, the current one only gives you 4 pages of the same 5 posts but lists each response on those 5 posts as legit findings, even using the max parameters allowed for time and topic. Sadly I rarely use it anymore. The older search was awesome...You could find anything on there...from any time...ahhhh thoses were the days.

That is indeed an issue. I wonder if there is some logic that can be added to the search process to only allow one response from each thread to be shown.

The issue with that is that if the word was taken from the heading, or just marginally mentioned in the post that is linked to, you may ignore it as not very useful, and skip over a good thread.
