The real John Kerry

I don't think John Kerry deserves or is qualified to be president. At this point, I think Bush has these guys' beat. I was looking for someone better then Bush, but I'm not sure they exist in this bunch. I won't finalize my decision until I see more and hear more with the debates but Kerry has flip flopped on too many issues. These guys all voted for the Iraq war and oust of Sadamm during the Clinton years. Bush is just in an unfortunately situation right now. Now if what O'neill said was true and Bush was motivated by revenge, then I blame Bush for this war. Needless to say, Kerry and the others just don't have it IMO.

The last truly great president was Theodore Roosevelt IMHO. I don't see any challengers in the present or future.

Al,

I didn't realize you were old enough to have voted for the Rough Rider???
wink.gif
I do agree with the sentiment though. When you consider that presidents used to write their own speeches he's even more impressive:

I believe he may be the only man to ever receive both the Nobel Peace Prize and the Congressional Metal of Honor?

Today of course he'd have to run as a Libertarian ...

It is very disturbing to me that anytime anybody questions Kerry on his voting record concerning military items (voting against many military items, such as the M-1 Tank, for example), immediately a liberal gets excited and says that whoever is questioning Kerry's voting record is trying to question his war record and heroism in Vietnam.

Without question the man was very brave in Vietnam and received military war medals.

But Kerry has voted repeatedly against various military weapons projects. And he is supposed to have made a statement that the terrorism threat had been exaggerated.

I am not questioning his war heroism. I am questioning his ability to be a good President of the United States.

Our vigilant press is softballing Kerry, big-time. They know their man....

I want the truth about the guy, that's all. I can tell you Kennedy (Ted) makes me gag. Kerry is quite unknown to me.

1) His voting record? (Where can I conveniently view this?)
2) His "real" stands, if they exist?
3) Is he as phony as he looks?

I have GREAT respect for him for his service during the VN war. I definitely think when it comes to service, he has Bush beat. However, would he be the best man to run this great and complicated country? I think not! Lieberman would do a better job. I don't like his ideas about terrorism......he seems like another Clinton.....don't do anything unless we get hit. That's not the way to do it! People think if we pull out of Iraq, life will go back to normal and terrorists will calm down......that would be one of our biggests mistakes. I believe this country needs to get the CIA back to 50s and 60s status....when it was actually gathering good intel. Once that's done, we ACT on the intel (it better be good though). We hit them by surprise......we kill the little guys and catch the big fish for more intel. Little by little, you would reduce their capabilities until they are out of business.
I believe what Kerry would do is throw a couple of bombs in the middle of the desert and declare victory......just like Clinton did.

I have determined that I have zero respect for John Kerry. If he becomes the D candidate I will do all I can to rally folks to the truth about him.

Sure people are pissed at Bush. Most are folks that are pissed at Bush didn't/wouldn't vote for Bush in the first place.

Americans can vote for the candidate of their choice, but the "swing" voters would be wise to learn about Kerry before choosing him...

"I have never been able to tolerate Edward Kennedy ever since that incident where he drove off a bridge into a river with that young woman."

You mean "Chappaquiddick" and the woman's name was Mary Joe Kopechne.

John Kerry has an incredibly liberal voting record. His stand on the war is indefensible (He voted to authorize the threat of force ... but not actual force itself

) and his problem with Bush's foreign policy is that we didn't kiss France's @$$ enough.

It will be interesting to see if people are so concerned about jobs (despite unemployment being relatively low and looking better) that they are able to ignore a seriously liberal-left track record.

I want to know the details of his three Purple Hearts and the way he ended his Tour of Duty early.

Without knowing the whole story, it appears he took a difficult/hot assignment and then weaseled out of it as soon as he could ... classic resume padding.

People who knew they wanted to run for the Presidency since they were in their teens are positively creepy.

Pablo, I have never been able to tolerate Edward Kennedy ever since that incident where he drove off a bridge into a river with that young woman. I remember that incident pretty well even now. I can hardly stand to see the guy or listen to him.

A lot of guys at this site probably are too young to remember that incident. The divers who recovered the body of the young woman said there may well have been an air pocket inside that car for a while. Kennedy seemed to be more interested in saving his political career then the life of the young woman. There was a house with a light on only a short distance from where the incident occurred. At first Kennedy said that he was dazed and confused, then later he said about how he had made these 'heroic Kennedy dives' to try to save the woman's life. An ordinary guy probably would have went to prison. All he really had to do was go to the house, call for help, and maybe they would have saved that woman.

That incident right there finished any admiration I had for Edward Kennedy. He is no John Kennedy. And he has gone so far to the left he is out of sight.

I am afraid that Kerry may be made of the same clay as Edward Kennedy.Yes, he is a war hero-no question about that. But he has voted repeatedly against several military weapons programs. And he is supposed to have made a remark recently to the effect that the threat of terrorism is exaggerated. Anybody that can make a statement like that is not qualified to be President of the United States.

Anytime anybody tries to bring up how Kerry has repeatedly voted against military programs, some liberal immediately jumps to Kerry's defense and claims that the questioner is questioning Kerry's war heroism. His war heroism has nothing to do with his voting record.

I was shocked by the stuff in the Vietnam Veterans against John Kerry web site. I tried to check some of it out to make sure it was really all true. Amazon.com states that the book that John Kerry wrote is out of publication but rarely available. This indicates that such a book really was written by Kerry. Barnes&Noble.com had no information on the book. These are the only two book sellers I have checked so far. Several people at work were shocked by what they saw at that web site.

In my opinion, if that information about Kerry is correct at the Veteran Veterans against John Kerry web site, then there is no way that this man should be president of the United States. And if the information that was contained in that web site is true and documented, and then made widely public, I do not think that the American people will vote for him.

Assuming the information is correct, then why has it not been made more widely available?

I'm no fan of Kerry. I think Demos are trying too hard to out think the rest of the country. They may end up out thinking themselves. But here's some Bush stuff that I bet will raise some eyebrows. I am not the author and have not checked all of this out. Some I agree with, some needs more investigation. Some is of no consequence just adds to overall picture. It's food for thought.

RESUME: George W. Bush The White House, USA

LAW ENFORCEMENT:
I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost and is not available.

MILITARY:
I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the
Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam. (Like other sons of Politians)

COLLEGE:
I graduated from Yale University. I was a cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:
I ran for U.S. Congress and lost.
I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.
I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry(including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected Governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR:
I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston
replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.
I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.
I set the record for the most executions by any Governor in American history.
With the help of my brother, the Governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme court, I became President after losing by
over 500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:
I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.
I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market.
I am the first president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.
I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one year period.
After taking-off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history. I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," a Weapon of Mass Destruction. In my State Of The Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq, then blamed the lies on our British friends. I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. president. In my first year in office over 2-million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month. I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.
I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any president in U.S. history.
I set the record for least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history. I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families -- in war time. I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people)shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind.
I've broken more international treaties than any president in U.S. history. I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her. I am the first president in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community. I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government. I am the first president in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission. I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law. I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. prisoners of war detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.
I am the first president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election). I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy in U.S.history. My political party used the Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision.I have protected my friends in Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history. I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.
I am first president in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.
I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.
I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice.
