Where does one find MC 7.5k? I haven't seen it sold anywhere, very rare now, price unknown. With QSHP/UD at $19 or less with promos, I'd choose it for 7-8k.

My Pep Boys carries it, some Orielys carry it
Don't get into O'R much at all (no PB nearby) but according to their website, you're right. Everyday price $5.29 a qt.

Pass. That's more than full syn PP, M1 and QSHP/UD jugs everyday price at Wally.

ANY SM/SN rated dino oil will work well for this interval. No real need (or benefit, IMO)to run syn for such a small interval. They will protect the same and your 'Yota will never know the difference.

I ran a mix of 5qts NAPA 5w20 dino and a qt of Q-Torquepower 5W30 (I had it kicking around) for a trip towing my Jeep/trailer to Moab, UT from Mass. 5,000+ miles with no ill effects pulling 6000-6500 lbs. The truck didn't know the difference.

I think this is the key, for that application I would agree any SM oil will do.

But if you keep race the engine, I would only use synthetic.

Honestly I think the ICE itself redlines in the upper 70's range and from then on it's up to MG1 and MG2 to get the car faster than that. Since there are parts of texas I'll be going 80, it may not be racing but it seems everything will be operating near the top end of their abilities

For me 3 quarts is half way up the dipstick, and I'm comfortable with that. No big issue with that is there?

No there's immediate issue, but why throw away half of your safety margin? Say you unexpectedly got a slow oil loss (leak) and lets say for example it would make your levels critical in two weeks if you didn't notice it. Well I'd have a month to notice it before I was in the same danger.

I know that some people advocate running the oil just under the top level on the stick to avoid any extra friction that might result if the crank runs too close to the sump level. That's fine, but seriously how much more do you think it will reduce friction if the crank clears the oil by 3/4" instead of 1/4" ?

BTW. I've got 3.8 quarts in mine (right on top mark of the dipstick) and it's thicker oil, 12.2 cSt @ 100C, ACEA A3/B4 (HTHS >= 3.5 cSt) and I still get 55+ mpg. What more do I need.

Exactly. Whatever dino is cheapest or on sale.
