I find it hard to capture the exact moment the flag reaches its full extension.

Surely, we all have admired this beautiful sight.

Not as much as you, no.

This is not a slight on the US flag nor the country or its populus, but more a reminder that this is an international forum and we might not all hold your flag in the same regard that you do. I have nothing against it, it's one of the nicer national flags out there and stands for a lot in this world, and I am also aware of the depth of feeling it typically engenders in US citizens and many others.

In fact here are a couple of pictures I took in Manhattan a few years ago that I like...

I had to think about this, but it's true, that camera fails under zoom.

Here is one without zoom, using what I can.

Happy first thread for this login, Joseph! I'm impressed by your topic choice. This one is fairly safe for you.

I had a lady from Australia chew me out a little bit when I sent her a photo of a majestic Union Jack flag.

She explained to me that Australia was not particularly friendly with Britain..

Great posts so far! Thanks, everyone. Let's keep this going.

In Nebraska, there are homes in almost every neighborhood that fly our flag 24/7. The older population is very patriotic and even the smaller towns have nice veteran organization halls.

Everyone loves the flag.

Would you like to know about its history?

I read "FLAG an American biography" by Marc Leepson forward by Nelson DeMille

SUPER BOOK! There were lots of flags with fields (the blue corner where the stars are).
There were lots of flags with stripes. I was heart broken when I learned that because I always thought the British were blown away by seeing our stunning, striped flag for the first time as they left Baltimore Harbor.

Oh well. Kira
