I've never been so excited for Thanksgiving...

June 4th I left for the USAF. Since my departure my wife and I have purchased and remodeled our first home together. She did an amazing job picking out everything and working with the contractors. We closed on the house when I was at basic training. I get to officially come home (for 3 days) and finally see the results of our hard work!

I'm SO thankful for her!

Anyone else as excited as I am?!?!?!?

Dropping Eartha Katt off in Providence at a friend's house on Thursday; headed down to Western VA on Friday to spend some time with the rents.

Our family has never done high stress holidays; we are a small and thankful bunch just to get some time together.

1st Thanksgiving here so we're keeping it low key in preparation for Christmas with family.

Congratulations on the purchase of your first home. I can't imagine closing and remodeling while being in Basic but I guess things have changed.

I am going to fly to Germany on Thanksgiving day and spend some time in Ansbach at their Christmas market and then head up to Berlin for a few nights. I don't have any family so I use the opportunity to travel.

Wife & I and one daughter going out to eat for Thanksgiving Dinner. See no reason for my wife, who is getting over bronchitis, to prepare a huge for just the 3 of us let along all the clean-up & left overs. So out we go.

The whole family is together this Thanksgiving. Many of us often go out of state to see other family members but, this year everyone is here together

Congrats on the house. What will you be doing after basic?

I'm currently in tech school 1200 miles from home. I'm in the Reserves so I'll resume teaching when I'm all finished and qualified. This is a 11 month ordeal and I'm more then half way through.

My wife and I have spent the last 20 or so Thanksgiving holidays doing volunteer work. This year we're delivering meal to shut-ins from 9:00 to about noon, then we'll spend the afternoon visiting two local retirement homes with our therapy dogs. It's our preferred way of spending the holiday.

We have about a dozen family members coming out on Saturday for a Thanksgiving meal.

A huge thank you to all of you who are or have served so that we can enjoy a holiday like this with our friends and family. My Thanksgiving will be a quiet one and I am actually thankful for that too!

Thank you for your service, and I'm happy that you have many things to be thankful for in your life.

We'll be going over to the in-law's house for a late afternoon meal to celebrate the Packers beating the Lions. Then we'll go over and visit my 95yo grandfather.

With the issues he's had lately, we fully expect that this will be the last Thanksgiving we'll have with him. We're hoping that he'll make it through Xmas so that family that cannot make it back this week can see him one more time.

Be safe everyone, and for those of you in the Northeast, be courteous on the snow covered roads tonight.

That's pretty cool. I always thought about doing at, say at Christmas, and just celebrate the holiday a day later. Just never worked out for us due to family planning.

The last couple years we have my inlaws up on thurs, then on Fri we drive down there, as my whole wife's family gets together on Saturday for their meal--when kids left home the grandparents realized that it made more sense to have "their" dinner on a less busy day. Drive home on Sunday. Nothing more fancy than that.

I am excited for you.

And thanks for your service.

My nephew will be back from Afghanistan and here for dinner.

He'll get to see my grandsons for the first time; his great nephews.
