Don't forget Demi Lovato and Lindsay Lohan. They are Disney alums, too. Walt must be spinning in his grave. I don't think Donald Duck picked up a crack habit in his retirement, nor did Mickey start gambling in his golden years.

Thats exactly right IMO, 99% of child stars fall into obscurity. For her to get away from this Hannah Montana image she has to smash it to bits or become another one of those kids with a school bus in the 70's.

It's one more reason why I make sure I have better things to do than plop down on the couch and pretend to be "entertained" by the idiot box. The description given here was more than I cared to know.

People such as her (and I'll stereotype her into a group with other similar "stars") need to constantly push the envelope in order to keep themselves relevant. Rather than rely on any real talent as a performer people such as her rely on shock value to keep themselves in the spotlight; as far as they are concerned any press is good press. It's the only way to keep their names in the headlines with the generation X and generation Y crowd, which is the crowd to whom they play.

Sadly there are people who sit and watch such trash, not realizing they are passively supporting the very behavior which they're condemning.
 
White Trash is so fun to watch.

Ignore her (not hard to do) and she will go away. She has no talent and is only where she is today because of Daddy.
 
I don't even consider it music anymore. It's trashy, degradation "entertainment", if you can even call it that. With all the electronics and stage show, the [censored] that is now hit music is awful. I'd rather listen to a broken chainsaw.
 
I forced myself to watch the video. Nothing titillating there for me, watching an unattractive girl [censored] and gyrating with an older man just isn't my thing. When the rapper (I have no idea who he was) came on, Miley became a sideshow. The Thicke person continued to make sounds with his mouth, but Miley was just off to the side, desperately looking for attention.

Is Courtney Love mentoring Miley these days?

Let's see, she's no longer "cool" among middle and elementary school kids anymore because she's too old.

She's also not pretty like many other idols for the high school age girls (i.e. Taylor Swift).

She's not sexy and hot like Megan Fox among the hormone charged boys in high school and college (i.e. Britney Spear 15 years ago)

She's not a great singer that can carry her own weight with musical talents like Adele, Avril Lavigne, etc.

Her only option left is to be punk and goth like Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, etc, and go one step further.

Sad that your look dictate what you can do in the show business.
 
Interesting. A lot of posts about how someone looks hot or sexy or whatever and then we wonder why she tries. Seems like a double standard. Personally, I fear that we have crossed into the humans are only valuable if there is a sexual value to them. Wish I was older than I am.

Agreed. I can't stand the stuff. But the saddest part to me is how women (and some men) find it appropriate to behave like sluts in front of millions. Is Cyrus how a real lady should behave? Yes, she has succeeded in getting the attention she wanted....and adulation from the over sexed no doubt....but respect and admiration? No way. But this is what passes for entertainment these days among the younger crowd. Frankly, it's vile to me. It's as though we are on the verge of a Romanesque breakdown of our values. Get's worse every year. But....this IS what the younger populace wants. It sells. I was surprised to see that Will Smith actually was in the crowd with his kids along with him. Why would a father do that?? Surely he grasps that being the type of program it was that they would be doing some real horrid and shocking stuff like this? He's been around for decades. And also, he and his family seems to have put on a show with the 'shocked' faces as I certain they knew a camera was on them. All a show...a put-on.
What a shame. Makes me wish for the days of old where this sort of behavior DID occur no doubt....but at least it was done in private or at parties not intended for nation wide display.

This is show business, you cannot assume people are who they are off the camera.
 
My wife noted that Madonna called and wanted her stylist and her dance routine back!

She also said the choreograher for that thing should be lobotomized.
 
I don't understand what she did that was controversial. She danced and made a few sexually suggestive moves on a show that isn't know for being the standard bearer of morals. It's not like we haven't seen this done before.
