Looks great, congrats!

My wife's car is a 2008 Mazda3 2.3 MT and it's been great. We arranged for the purchase similar to you -- online and over the phone, a bit of a drive away, and it too was a trouble free, easy experience and we got a great deal.

Mazda is definitely a company it's easy to be enthusiastic about, IMO.

I basically just cross shopped numbers through the internet sales reps at a couple dealerships. This dealership that made this offer was about 90 minutes away. So I basically told them if I was making the drive I want to be 100% sure these numbers wouldnt change.

That's how it worked out for me.

Brought it home today

(interior is black - iphone doesn't do it well - will post better 'real' pics in the official thread in a few days)

The seats are very nice, I agree. I love the little button snap for the e-brake boot!

I am amazed at what you are getting for under $20K in that car! Congratulations!!

It really is impressive. Best equipped "base" car I've been in, and that's usually all I buy, lol. Thanks again!

i love the feature where you can just flip the turn signal stalk (not fully connect) and it blinks three times (for lane changes) and stops.

my BMW needs to be coded for that function I think...must do it someday..

I am also curious to test the 'city smart brakes' to see if the car really stops when an obstacle is in front ..

This is the most elegantly designed car inside and out that I have seen in a long time. Almost makes me wish I hadn't just got my skyactiv 3. They did a superb job with this gen 6. The dash and console layouts are so clean, simple and classy.

so....What about doing the 1st 'break-in' oil change earlier than recommended interval? I am thinking of changing it (getting it changed) around 3000 miles or should I get it done even earlier?

My wife's driving style/program is good enough to meet the 7,500 mile OCIs I think, and she's easy on the car...Going to stay with that interval and Mazda/Idemitsu 0w-20 from the dealer...

This was one of the biggest criteria my wife had set - a simple uncluttered dash with no futuristic looking middle console..We love it - but I am sure to someone who likes a Ford Focus dash/middle console it will look bland and old-fashioned.

Just triple check with your dealer as to what oil they use. Both of the Mazda dealers near me use Castrol 0w20.

Yup. Castrol EDGE SPT 0w20 is the likely dealership oil but I think that is still a very good oil for 7,500 mile OCIs.

Thanks for the tip - I am gonna ask the dealer if I can get the Mazda/idemitsu stuff OR if they don't stock it, if I can bring it in....But like you said, if they use the SPT stuff that's ok too...

The one in the picture doesn't go for under $20k.

I believe jgen has shown the pictures but it might have been in other thread. My comment was based upon his pictures and not of Tbird's.
